Group tents

Last year my friends and I decided to the festival properly. There were 5 us to one tent so we orignally went for a 3 roomed Rage Tromso 10man beast. The total came to £170 so £35. However two days before the festival we get a call from Tentastic telling us the tent they have sold us has been diverted to China to help with the Earthquake and they are sending us this one instead:

Anyway the tent arrived and was fantastic. Plenty of room to stand up and chill out in the early hours. Sadly this year it seems that the prices have all gone up and it would cost £200 for this tent now. So starting this thread for the discussion of group tents, what ones you use, how much etc. :)

i've got two, and one of them i don't remember what make it is. the other is a eurohike one from millets, one of the silly patterned ones they usually have. both are 1500mm yet have survived a lot of rainfall between them, to my surprise as both were bargainous compared to what some people seem to buy.

As you are from Liverpool , I will tell you this true tale !

Back in 2003 , I think it was , we were camped up in Big Ground , on the Thursday a group of young

scousers turned up a put up a huge tent about 20 yards to the back of us , got their camping chairs

and stella out , and just sat there. Not bothering to move and see the rest of the festival.

There constant arguing amongst themselves had me crying with laughter. At 4.00 am we would get

"I treat you like a brudda , and you do this to me ! " X 20 , just cos one had sat in anothers chair. Although

their 24 hour bickering upset some people I thought it hilarious , and got chatting to one of the lads. He

invited me back to the tent. His mates at first were not well pleased and accused me of being a bizzie. A

curt Yorkshire reply and a "calm down , Ivan is a true mate ! ", soon calmed em down.

Anyway Saturday morning they had , had enough of just being sat round the tent , so upped sticks and went home. The young lad was good enough to come and see me and said I could have anything , they

were leaving.

I decided I would have their tent , so my and my mates were the proud owners of the

Scouser Tent , it did us for loads of festivals before being retired and we are now on Scouser Tent 2 !

I know it does not seem right but 72 hours of bickering and arguing , for me was priceless , I can still here them now !

:P

haha priceless, we had a few scousers next to us one year, there hilarious, also being from sheffield, they struggled with our accents as much as we did theirs.

On the tent front, there is only one way to go, 2 pillows, a 3 man pop up tent and a double blow up bed, it fills the tent perfectly, no gaps down the edge or nothing. True passion pad (only for the first night mind!)

Try not to do that.

Monday can be a bit hard work, but at the very least bag up and get your stuff to the nearest bin point. Better still - if you don't want to carry it all the way home - there are a few places that will take properly bagged & complete kit, assuming you know where they are.

Best though, cheapest, nicest to the planet... pack it up, strap it on, get it out, and bring it back next year for more fun times.
