StoneCircle
Right folks, a bit of help. Where exactly is Yam the Cassava, because I'm taking a map with it dotted on this year. It's been 3 years since I last had it, despite trying on a couple of occasions this year (i actually found it, it was very early morning and closed, then subsuquently forgot where it was) I know it's in that maze of alleys that all look the same when you don't spend much time down there, but if anyone knows its exact location, I will be eternally grateful Last year it was on Yeomans Bridge en route to West Holts from the direction of the Meeting Point, on the right hand side. Just ask at an info point and they will give you a nice large scale map with it pin pointed on.
holmz
This thread has my tummy making impatient noises... I think it likes being in a field for a week in the summer being fed such things as: Hog Roast: Not just any hog roast (I mean by that one of the stalls that claim "Hog Roast" but there is no dead pig on a spit... just a roast pork bap.. no no no), this has been my Glasto fave for as long as I can remember! Obviously price has gone up over the years and the size/portions seem to reduce - but the largest offering is what they used to call the torpedo. Proper hog roast with all the trimmings (stuffing, apple sauce, crackling). I am salivating just thinking about it. Always make an effort to find the stall at the start of each festival.. just to make sure it is still there (and, obviously, grab one!) This is the stall from the outside: Grillstock Pulled Pork Burger: We have a Grillstock in Bristol... although I have never been (although I will be attending the Grillstock 2015 Festival in Bristol in July), I have enjoyed Grillstock food at festivals for a few years. A few Grillstock (restaurant) regulars were very disappointed with the food served up from the stall at Glastonbury in 2014, but I very much enjoyed. Rumours (on this forum, so far unconfirmed as far as I can tell) are that they won't have a stall at this year's festival - but this is a pic from last year: I also love an Oggie or two (or three... or more!) each year as I tend to camp nearby. I love Goan Fish Curry, Pieminister (RIP), crepes (savoury), filled giant Yorkshires.... they are just a few favourites. I just wish there were more days to try all of the other stalls around. I can't be eating too many times a day or I would sober up I am sure I have missed loads of amazing places... friends rave about Pauline Fowler's Growler, but never tried one. One of the things I am really looking forward to in 2015 is the Glasto-Food. Finding out what traders are there is almost as important as finding out what bands are playing.... holmz
Also.. last year I pushed the boat out on the Sunday and we went decadent with some champagne and lobster (I think this might be from Williams Green?) The champagne was from a nearby wine bar stall.. but this was the lobster place: Quality
djcolsen
Pie minister are not going to be there this year apparently, they were always handy when you've had too much brothers over at the west holts

Sunday morning 2013 me and the wife shared Gumbo, boiled crayfish and spicy sausage (like a huge warm spiced savaloy) from a place called Crayfish Bobs, it was divine
pie_and_a_pint
Grillstock sold me a pulled pork bap so epically crap that I took it back. They clearly knew it was crap because I got my money back without so much as a moment's hesitation.

Amy Lawn
I believe this is what you are after, probably the best meal I had last year. The Tibetan Kitchen near the Pyramid is a close second. Somebody threw a plate of that cous cous in the general direction of St Vincent when she came down to the crowd to do some mad shredding skillz. My beefs with this were twofold; firstly, why would you throw stuff at St Vincent? Secondly, why would you throw away cous cous that flavoursome? I think it must have been a very disturbed character who had lost grip on reality and couldn't understand the gravity of what they were doing. Luckily, I saw hand pop up and smack it away before it hit Annie, Glastonbury has her back. The vine leaves you can see peeping out from the napkin were some of the best I've ever had. kalifire
why would you throw stuff at St Vincent? Why would you throw stuff, full stop? I would genuinely have no problem with people who deliberately chuck stuff at performers being picked up and thrown the other side of the fence. It's about as moronic and disrespectful as it's possible to get.

frostypaw
Grillstock sold me a pulled pork bap so epically crap that I took it back. They clearly knew it was crap because I got my money back without so much as a moment's hesitation. This is a case-in-point of avoiding slickly marketed places that have turned up from some city - they have almost always arrived with a half-arsed slop version assuming their market is all drink-and-drug fucked teenagers, but this isn't Reading. We got something from Grillstock, I can't remember what but it was unceremoniously dumped in a completely naked bun with as much care as a bootsale catering bbq burger. The non-festival regular companies tend to vastly underestimate their audience Edited May 12, 2015 by frostypaw
Napoleon_Ultra
Unfortunately, i'm a Glasto noob. Or perhaps that should be thankfully, as i'll have a million new experiences this year, but it does leave me with a problem. I have no idea where anything is. For example, people posted some good looking food places near Williams Green. I have no idea where that is and having looked at the map, im non the wiser I've decided to stay in worthy view, so will probably spend a lot of time in the south east corner. Can i assume there's an abundance of good choices in that area? *i've found williams green, but my question of thw south east corner still stands, thanks. frostypaw
SE Corner is only awake at all after 4pm, so you'll get to explore the rest for sure - but they do have good foods too, had some great mexican down there

While everything you said is true and I agree in full, I do know, from my experience of the world, that some people are just w*nkers, and will be naughty for no good reason, What I just can't grasp, is that even if you are a total bastard in this way, surely St Vincent would give you pause for thought, make you rethink your position. Not a huge amount of good food in the SE corner compared to other areas, but from Worthy View you are very close to the Green Fields which has some amazing veggie food, and the Park, which also has some good options. Untz
There was one place, I think it was Grillstock, that served their food on brioche buns that were so overpoweringly rich it went in the bin half eaten. I have avoided the brioche/meat combo ever since when previously I was ambivalent about it.

incident
Is Green Field the Green Futures/Healing Fields area, or it's own unique area? It's the collective name for the Greenpeace / Green Futures / Healing Field / Croissant Neuf / Craft Field / Undle Ground fields. And the field between Greenpeace and Avalon with some market stalls, not sure if it has a name.Officially Kings Meadow is part of the Green Fields as well but this often gets.. overlooked. Bignews
Sounds like a very silly question, but what do they actually serve at the goan fish curry stall? Is it just one type of fish curry or... Pictures would be greatly appreciated as I see it mentioned a lot on here, but seem to miss all the pictures! As I'm not a huge fan of fish, but I'm a massive fan of curry and I quite like less strongly flavoured fish, do you think I'd like what they serve up there? If not, anyone got any other top recommendations for curry/Indian/spicy food, reading this thread is making me very hungry and very excited to sample more delights that glasto has to offer! Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance I think the Goan Fish Curry place does one non-fish curry, although I might be wrong about that. The Thali Cafe in the Green Fields does great veggie curry, and No Bones Jones and Ghandi's Flip-Flop get recommended for the same.

Thanks in advance I don't think it's as great as everyone else makes out, but they do a veggie option (maybe just a dahl) and a white fish option, which I think was the milder curry. I don't appreciate their curry to rice ratio either. In terms of curry at Glastonbury, veggie is better.
