Akon hoping for Glastonbury slot

Akon has revealed that he is keen to perform at Glastonbury this year.

The US R&B star has vowed that he could top the efforts of Jay-Z, who was one of the festival's headline acts in 2008.

"I would love to do Glastonbury. I could put on a show to rival Jay-Z," Akon told the Daily Star.

"I've been there before - but not as a performer. I love festivals."

Bruce Springsteen, Blur and Neil Young have already been confirmed as this year's Glastonbury bill-toppers.

Meanwhile, Akon recently made headlines after confirming that he will be working on Alexandra Burke's debut album later this year.

His stupid ringtone songs annoy the hell out of me. I'd rather not go than hear him at Glastonbury, so I'd probably have to put headphones on and sit in my tent whilst he's on, just in case his music caught a strong wind and assaulted my ears.
