What a rubbish line-up so far

Thanks for your reply. Fair points and well made.

I now realise I could have phrased my original posting better and I should have looked for similar threads before I started.

I am now coming round to the Glasto idea. I was obviously looking at it from purely the line-up point of view and not considering the whole vibe thing.

Thanks for your input.

I for one am absolutely sick of hearing all this about 'attracting younger people'.

Myself - well I am not telling you how old I am because it does not matter, but regardless of that - I think it does not matter if you are 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80or 100. If you buy a Glasto ticket you should feel welcome.

It's nice to see after all the initial negativity from some people (including me!), this thread is getting more positive.

I just need to convince my mate who I'm going with that we need to hang on for a bit longer before throwing in the towel.

The latest you can cancel your tickets is early May. Is the full line up out by then?

I personally can't wait and even tho only 22 I am a massive Bruce and Neil fan and will take a look at Blur if nothing else and I can understand the bashing as Bruce gets alot of stick. But me and my mate where discussing going to Glastonbury this year no matter what, as sick of other badly run festivals *cough* Oxegen *cough* and got tickets before the rumours and indeed confirmations so was just a really great surprise. I hope the rest of lineup isnt announced and still wished the headliners hadnt been announced as I now can only imagine the grin on my face at seeing Bruce and Neil on walking in gates of glastonbury

I am happy with headliners but dont expect to enjoy glastonbury any better or indeed any less than someone who hates the headliners as I've been told so many times that there is far more to it than headliners

Just seen this thread, and like I said in the other one started by someone with an identical headline-centred, lineup oriented whinge (and which this clown couldn't even be arsed to find ) :

People who are so obsessed with the main stage headliners (and nothing else) that they base their entire opinion about Glastonbury on that, shouldn't bloody go.

I've been posting on here for many years and every bloody year there's a stream of whingeing fools coming on to whine and moan about how they see the lineup/headliners as inadequate. And who then post a petty, selfish, negative stream of complaints based only on that.

FFS, there are 100s of acts at Glastonbury, all over site, in multiple venues, a FAR broader choice of entertainment than at any other festival.

edited to make somewhat less rude ...

It's true that Glasto isn't about the line up (I won't repeat what has been so eleoquently said by many others) but even the die hard purists must admit to getting a little thrill when a band they like appears on the Confirmed or TBC list.

I actually trust the Eavis's judgement. Generally they've picked winners right across the age range with plenty for everyone of all ages and musical tastes.

It's great that Old Farts like me get exposed to rappers like Jay Z, who I'd never have botherd to see if he'd been playing at the bottom of my street for free. Equally a lot of youngsters who'd never heard any Leonard Cohen were blown away by a man of 73.

Treat it as a taster or learning curve. Make a point of going to see a few people you've never heard of as well as your favourites.

Is it just me or is anyone else considering cancelling Glasto this year?

The rumoured line-up is very disappointing, in my opinion. There is not one act (apart from Blur probably) that I would pay money to go and see in their own right.

Didn’t Mr Eavis say a couple of years ago he wanted to attract younger visitors to his festival? I’m no spring chicken myself but acts like Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Springsteen, Fairport Convention, Crosby Stills Nash, and Tom Jones etc aren’t going to help at all. They actually make me feel young.

I think the final nail in the coffin was when I read that Des O’Connor was rumoured to be there. Give me strength!

Things better improve soon or I’ll be cashing in my ticket for the Leeds or V Festival.

Anyone else considering cancelling or is it just me??

I'm right confused now

Festivals are the absolute highlight of my year and me and my best mate had decided to go to Glasto this year - we've been looking forward to it for ever. We really love our music but love everything about festivals

I must admit the line-up announced so far have not really been my cup of tea but I've thought, "I'm sure the famous Glasto vibe will make up for it and we'll have a bangin' time"

I do understand where Godders is coming from - especially for a first-timer - the acts announced so far are never going to set my hair on fire. But the thing that's really surprised me is how aggressive so many posters to this thread are.

I'd imagined Glasto to be full of people who believe in "live and let live". The great thing about festivals for me is such a great gathering of people with shared interest and a great spirit. From this thread it seems more like it's full of people who believe, "If you don't agree with me you can f**k off"

Is my rose-tinted view of Glasto really misplaced or is it going to be the best festival in the world bar none?

Is it full of peace and harmony or is it full of Glasto-Nazi's?

Where do you find the most accurate information on the line up? Most posts just seem to be wish lists
