micawber
There are a number of changes from last year that you should be aware about before you attend Reading Festival 2009: - No box office onsite, so no ticket sales at Reading or box office collections at all. - Overseas customers will need to collect tickets at The Hexagon in Reading town centre. - Arena Extension. We are extending the Western end of the arena for 2009. This will then create more space for the Radio One tent , make room for an extra block of loos and improve the levels of music on site, without increasing the disturbance off site for residents. - Crowd Surfing. The policy has been revised and if you come over for fun, you will be put back onto road G4 and made to walk back down to the arena entrance to come back into the arena that way, the long way. - Arena Entrance . The layout will change this year to ease the flow in and out. - Campsite toilets have been rearranged within the campsites, the site map when available will show this. - NO aerosols (over 100ml) or gas canisters. We suggest that if you want to cook outisde your tent that you bring disposable bbqās only. They are also available at the nearby supermarkets. Anyone seen with canisters or cylinders will be ejected from site. - No Indigo Zone this year. What was indigo last year will revert back to brown and purple. - All security staff in the campsite will be SIA licensed this year. There will also be an increase in Police and Security. There will be an onsite Police Desk at the Info Tent on Picadilly Circus. - We are planning to apply for an extension to the number of Early Bird tickets, but none will be sold at the festival. - Campervan and Caravan permits will cost Ā£20 in advance and Ā£30 on the gate, this is to maintain the integrity of the C&C field. - Car park passes will be Ā£5 in advance this year, Ā£10 on arrival. - Over 18's wristband will be optional, but allows those that look young to not have to carry ID around all the time. - Confiscation policy has extended to aerosols (over 100ml) and gas canisters. You will be given a receipt and told to collect them Monday morning from the left luggage tent on presentation of your receipt. - Information Tent has been upgraded. Go here to find out more. ikle_me
light seconds if it's a band you love (queues at the entrance are none existent after the morning rush ) It also seems a genius way to beat the madding crowds back to the tents Edited March 27, 2009 by ikle_me

Lithium05
They always say early bird tickets won't be available on the door, they wont turn anyone away, even if it means they pocket the tenner themselves.

jammy2211
Wow tickets are gonna be just shy of Ā£200 with an early bird n all. Ouchhhhhhhh.
beLIEveR
More loos in the arena is fantastic news, as is the fact that there will be less demand for Tesco's noodles. Reducing the amount of people who will use deodorant is bad though, and the fact that they're extending the arena suggests to me that the main stage will stay in the same place, and yellow will be smaller, which can only be bad for noise, camping space and us poor G7'ers. thomasowen
I've never understood why people would WANT to hold a flag at Leeds. I mean it will just give you ache and it doesn't achieve anything. Reading there is slightly more logic because you could see yourself on tv. flossy_
whaaaaat, only early birds with coach packages!? that's not what it said this morning...i was on the site at about 12 and it had early birds as a seperate thing to buy, not with coach packages. has this only literally changed today?? boo, that's gonna cost over 200 quid if you coach it up and early bird it as one EDIT: We are planning to apply for an extension to the number of Early Bird tickets, but none will be sold at the festival. I gather this means they're in the process of doing this? Maybe you can get the early birds later on in the year as a seperate thing when they know whether they can sell more or something? i hope so.
