FAO: All those complaining about the 'line up'

If a football team manager announced his team, but only wrote down the goalkeeper on the team sheet, you'd be like "What? We're going to lose!"

Once he announced the full team and the subs bench, you'd be like "Oh much better" "Oh look at that winger, he's tasty" "Oh that striker's from the youth team, I've been waiting to see him get this chance for years"

Basically, what I am saying is you need to see thing as a whole. If, when the line up is announced in June, you still think that it is rubbish, you'll hear no complaints from me. But right now, slagging the line up on what, 6 acts? That's around 1% of the line up!

So, what I want you all to do, is cancel your tickets. Leave the forum. And come back the day the line up is announced. So I can see you all kick yourselves in the face. Really hard. Over and over again.

Much Love.

Fair point well made.

Im getting f**kin sick of coming on here expecting to see rumors and confirmations and all we're getting is people slagging off the line-up when its not even out. If you know anything about glastonbury, its that it never dissapoints, if youre unsure and are gonna keep on whining on about it, do one! Otherwise, read the rumors, get excited and have a damn good time absorbing the atmosphere when you get there. I've slagged off acts that i dont like too, but theres something for everyone there so if you get dissapointed at what you see, its your own fault.

Peace be the journey.

Honest to god he would probably have Ameobi headline...

I came on to these boards 1/2 hour ago and there was so much complaining about the lineup that I assumed it had been officially announced or something! I swear there wasnt this much complaining about Jay-Z last year than there were about the 3 headliners this year, who are much more suited to Glastonbury! Just shows you cant win some people just like to bitch and moan about anything and everything

Great post mate, Glasto has got to be the only festival we're the lineup isnt the be all and end all. Ive been to Leeds, V, and Isle of Wight and when Ive been to them its all about seeing bands.............The first time I went to Glastonbury I only saw one band the whole day on the Saturday and had a great time just wandering around, chatting to randoms and taking in what Glastonbury had to offer. I was only 17 at the time and there were plently on bands I wanted to see that day but the festival just seems to suck you in and you dont seem to care, its the only festival Ive ever been to that has had that feeling about it.

I'm not one to moan about the line-up, but it just struck me on reading your argument, the cancellation deadline is prior to June (8th May). So people couldn't make that informed cancellation, once the announcement has occurred.

But the people who are complaining NOW are saying "the line up is rubbish", when the full line up is not available. They have decided because of a few acts, it's not worth attending. If, when the full line up is available and people criticise it, then fair game.

The whole point was that people are making uninformed judgements, so maybe they should put up or shut up.

I've been to most of the big festivals this country has to offer, usually for the line up but I go to Glastonbury because it's Glastonbury, and I know the line up will have some new bands I'm looking forward to, some blasts from the past I love seeing, some massive bands that are unmissable but most importantly I will wander around and get to see bands I'd never heard of and wouldnt have seen anywhere else than Worthy Farm on the last weekend in June. I would happily turn up every year without there being one band on my want list.

If you are so obsessed with seeing the 'new big thing' whoever it may be, well T In The Park, Carling and V are just your thing. Leave Glasto for us true lovers of the best festival on gods green earth! :P

Yes but the point people are trying to make is that the biggest slots (headline slots) have been announced meaning that were only going to get the smaller bands we like (MGMT, Vampire Weekend ect for me) and not the bigger acts i would of loved to see (Muse, oasis ect)

And as much as i will like alot of the bands to be announced i doubt im going to have a heart attack from excitment at the thought of seeing them.

I think what we need is for people to chill out and stop worrying  The lineup will come when the lineup comes. Be optimistic. It might be a great lineup and it might also rain constantly so you don't even get to see said lineup. Why worry about something you have zero, zilch, uno, no control over?

Now... to the pub! Its gone 5pm already
