Glastonbury The Movie.

I've just bought the 3 dvd boxset Glastonbury The Movie, it's great to see what the festival used to be like before I went.

I haven't watched it all yet but I will soon, what I was wondering was how many of you have seen it and what are your thoughts?

Are any of you in it and are there any more vids out there like this?

Yes i have it on DVD. i think it is very good. I think that it captured the feel of what the festival is all about very well.

I shall be watching it in about mid june as always to start the excitement!

Im not sure if there are any more actual DVD's like that, though it is easy to buy bootlegs of bands performances at the festival. Youtube is however swarmed with videos of glastonbury, some not so great, some actually really well made and incredibly funny!

Before the 1996 'Glastonbury: The Movie' (originally released on VHS, and filmed at the 1992-1993 festivals I believe), there is only the original Glastonbury Fayre reel from 1971 I think, possibly available through the usual deleted catalog suppliers. After 1996 there was the 2006 Julian Temple thing. Don't know of any other material other than the odd freelance bit of work here and there. Of course, there is the CH4 / BBC coverage from 1994 onwards - a good few hundred hours of it, which has the occasional good feature about the site, its history and character.

Really like the film - does it's best to relay what its actually like, as well as documenting the history etc.

went to see the movie at the pictures and I wasn't entirely impressed

it must be a nightmare trying to make some sense of over 30 years worth of material and I thought that they did a decent job of trying to convey the 'feeling' of Glastonbury, but I don't think I'd watch it again
