I think it was Coldplay who was goin to be the 4th headliner, I dont think it would of been Radiohead, I could be wrong.

But I would of thought with it being a major event next year as its the anniversary then surely Radiohead will be hands down headlining, as the organisers know how much they are loved & 2 years on the trot maybe seen as to much.

Why even mention it when it isn't even confirmed? Now people will feel like they've been lied to.

Eavis mentioned it, I guess cos he was excited about it - but he never said it was definitely happening. If people have mistaken his words as meaning something different to what he said then that's hardly his fault is it?

eFestivals has mentioned that it's not happening because there's little point there being lots and lots of speculation over who it might be when it's not happening. As someone very much in the know about who is playing this year said to us "it would be good to kill off the speculation".

Right.

Probably British.

Definitely headline material (usually headlines festivals or very popular etc).

Neil said his tastes don't come into it which could suggest that he doesn't necessarily dislike the band but because he doesn't like the Pyramid Stage wouldn't go to watch them. (Might not mean that though.)

Don't have huge egos.

A set of circumstances stopped them from playing, which was originally described as 'other commitments'.

Maybe it was something to do with Muse and the recording of their new album. Maybe they knew they would be too busy finishing that or something?

The only other bands that seem likely are Coldplay or Radiohead. I don't see someone like U2 or Elton John making their first Glastonbury appearance a secret second-from-top slot.

dont worry pal,

its got f**k all to do with the "I dont like the line-up" thing,

its more the money, 180 quid, then the travel, then the stuff needed and money spent

it comes to alottt of money, and for NO acts that i dont like, its a bit hefty

it'd only be springsteen really.

I hope your mates get there tickets.

I just wish that the full line-up (subject to alteration) would be published (it is after all "spring" now) so all the teeny-boppers can cancel their tickets and this forum can talk about something interesting instead. I don't actually give a damn who's playing, but (despite getting dragged in - can't help it!) the constant "who's playing threads" are getting rather tiresome. With all (?) the other festivals having announced most or all of their line-ups, and most tour dates announced I really can't see what the point in holding back is now (unless it's get Glastonbury in the media spot, which also seems like a waste of time).

maybe the "kill off the speculation" is to do exactly that, so we forget about it, then boom - sat night someone headlineree comes out and plays :lol:

but then whoever plays penultimate is usually ok anyway i guess (granted this is subjective to your own opinions), but you get my point

OK, fair enough. Glasvegas and Gossip is still pretty lame when you look at some of the NME/Radio 1 stage headliners they've had in previous years

IMO you cannot get lamer than Gossip or Glasvegas, so it's just as well I don't programme fests for youngsters. ..... not that I'd do much better with a fest for oldies either I reckon  .... so it's just as well I don't programme any fest :)

I was simply correcting your error, that's all. :P

i have to say neil - id be absolutely fascinated in your programme - i love all music which is why im very poor and why i have a whole room crammed with stuff lol which id just liked less

i'd maybe manage to programme one year's fest very well, but I'd be completely stuffed for a second one .... I *know* I'd not be very good at it, which is precisely why I have no interest in running a festival myself. It's far more interesting when others do it anyway, cos it opens my eyes to all sorts of stuff, both good, and bad (hello Gossip ). ;)
