Is anyone actually happy that Bloc Party are second headlining?

Reading through the other threads it seems the one band that everyone is really annoyed about on the line up is Bloc Party second headlining for the second year in a row. Thought I'd try and find out exactly how many people are actually happy that they are playing where they are.

meh can't say I'm happy as they played the same spot last year, would of been nice for a different band to play instead

3 years in a row in such a prestigious slot is a joke, especially when they've been positively boring for the past 2.

I don't think they deserve the slot again for the second year in a row, especially having done NOTHING since then, from my point of view

However I also don't think they are a wasted booking as they are a good band and good live as well.

Silent alarm was one of my favourite albums of 2005, their second one wasn't great, their third album was good. First time at Leeds they were great, second time they weren't. One thing is for sure, it's a lazy booking.

Repetive bookings = bad. Much moreso if they're high up the bill.

Can't say I'm too fussed but they really should try some different bands otherwise it'll get boring pretty fast. At least they haven't went down the T In The Park route and book the same line up as they did 2 years ago!

Placebo would've been fair more suitable to co-headline the Sunday.

Quite simply it's a disgrace that they are on again. They must be Melvin Benn's distant relatives.

Good music, great Live. I don't really see the problem. The fact that the Arctic (musical ability of) Monkeys are headlining is far more criminal.

I'd have preferred BP to have headlined the R1 stage though - I still can't get over the atmosphere when they played there back in 05.

I've never been much of a fan of Bloc Party (especially their newer stuff) so obviously I'm gunna say no.

My friend who loves them suprisingly agrees with me, although that could be because he's seen them too much.

I'd imagnie the only people happy are the people who didn't go last year? I guess they're fans will be happy to see them again but I'm really get sick of the fact nearly every band on this years line up I've seen before, most of at Reading >_>.

Shouldn't be throwing high slots away on bands that played one or two (or both) years ago.

I think it's just a sign of how indie is at the moment? Is it on it's last stand? Bands not coming through and becoming popular like they did in the past? hmmmm.

i think they are the worst live band ive ever seen they had no spark and he couldnt sing which was a big shame becuase i looked forward to it. i think im going to try and avoid them this year. how ever all my friends won't agree with me.

Hmm, I do like Bloc Party but I can understand why some would be annoyed by this.

I will be there, enjoying it and taking up a good position for Radiohead!

Shouldn't be there. Loved the first album and early stuff, has been downhill from thier unfortunately. Still think they are a taletned bunch and have loads of potential but don't suit such a big stage, but then a lot of good bands don't. Either way shouldn't be there and can only imagine Radiohead has some say in it.

I do realy like Bloc Party and im going to see them in April so in a way i wish it was another band in there slot

However i think they would be good in radio 1 tent maybe sub headliner.

as most of you have said its a lazy booking and will decide if ill see them at reading after there gig in april

I didn't mind The Subways playing every year because they never took the most prestigious slots, the highest they've ever been was 6th on Main in 2006 and that was after Audioslave pulled out, otherwise they'd have been 7th.

Bloc Party are the 2nd last band to play Reading. The two years before this that slot has gone to bands that have never played Reading before and really got people excited about seeing them. Not a band who, for the second year in a row, have been a waste of a very good spot. IIRC they were a must-see band in 2007 but now I think they're becoming a joke amongst Reading and Leeds-goers.
