this forum has become almost unbearable

I agree! I only joined a couple of weeks ago, then it was a really positive place and it seems to have suddenly deteriorated into nothing but moaning! I don't understand what happened. Is it me?

nope, it seems to be - in the main, anyway - those that are new to Glasto and who have no patience.

Just because there's currently many older acts that have self-confirmed those people are starting to think that that is all there'll be.

What's going on is very simple to explain. Older bands know the score, and announce themselves because they know it doesn't matter if they do. Newer bands are a bit in awe of the music biz, and are scared of doing something they shouldn't be doing, and so err on the side of caution and say nothing.

Alongside that many of those newer bands will be on the bill for the other big festivals who would prefer that it's not known that they'll also be at Glastonbury. In some cases it might be that the deal they have with those other fests actually obliges them to keep quiet about where else they'll play.

Yet as ever, Glastonbury will have a fat line-up of those trendy bands, and you'll see nearly every 'new music' band that's playing the likes of T, V, & Reading/Leeds at Glastonbury. When the line-up is fully announced only the deaf will be able to say that there's not more music to their liking at Glastonbury than they'll ever be able to see.

has no-one got anything interesting or positive to say anymore? 2 of every 3 threads is someone moaning (and yes i do see the irony of me moaning in this thread)

i'd like a bit of this and a bit of that

some dance music in the dance village

some newer bands in the JP tent and on the park stage

some older and newer acoustic gems in the acoustic tent

some big classic names and some newer big bands on the pyramid and other stages

some soul, reggae, jazz and world music on the jazzworld stage

something a little bit more alternative on some of the quieter outside stages

some madness, mystery and mayhem in trash city and shangri-la

some more reflective and peaceful goings on in the green fields

something visually interesting, perhaps acrobatic, skilful and mesmerising in the circus areas

some food from all corners of the globe in the markets, preferably vegetarian in the green fields

some engrossing movies, perhaps funny- perhaps arty- perhaps action, in the cinema field

some friendly people camping next to me, maybe who wouldn't mind me joining them for a chinwag and a cider around their fire

some hushed whispering magical awe-inspiring unbeatable atmosphere in the kings meadow after hours

some folks letting their hair down and having a good time with whoever they happen across

then you're in the right place.

I was getting a bit fed up on people posting new topics and 'threatening' to cancel tickets.

I am also sick to the back teeth of the ageist views and stereotyping that is being put forward by ALOT of people.

So yeah, lets get some positivity going... I will put forward that there seems to be a sense of sharing at Glastonbury that I have not experienced at other festivals. I have seen just regular attenders giving out a poncho to someone when it started raining. I have seen people rush to others who are stuck in the mud and I have met peope who will gladly offer a beer to you when in conversation. Nice! :-)

When I got stuck in the front of crowd the crowd after Amy Winehouse this dead nice bloke lifted me out and I was crowd surfed to the front, he then did the same thing for my boyfriend and friend! Amazingly nice, no idea how the bloody hell he picked up my boyfriend either!

when we are all stood in front of the pyramid stage as the sun sets on sunday night with Wayne Coyne at the altar giving us a life changing sermon on the power of positivity followed by Do You Realize blasting out of the speakers with confetti falling all around us we will, for a few minutes, feel euphoria like we have never felt before. The only way to remove the smiles our faces will be with hammers and chisels

With just a little bit of the line-up announced it's still pretty busy on this forum. Postings almost all day alround. Special. But when people have to wait too long, than discussion becomes a bit dull. It's time for some action. ONLY 12 WEEKS TO GO !!!!

Would it be considered negative if I suggested that a positive outcome of all this moaning is that perhaps these people won't come next year or even this year if they hurry up and get refunds.

Glastonbury is the most amazing experience. When it ends you want to go back again and a big part of that is the people and the positivity all around. There is magic in the air. Not once last year did I hear people tent moaning about the line-up. In fact I think I even heard only positive mentions about Jay-Z!

And honestly, what right has anyone to be angry at a festival? What does it owe you or anyone? We make our own fun. Glastonbury just makes it easier.

I would also like to see any festival line up announcement since the birth of the internet that wasn't met with waves of "WORST. FESTIVAL. EVER".

On here people are going "Look at the Reading line up!"

On the Reading forum they're going "WTF is this shit?"
