there is ALWAYS something to do at glasto for all ages!

i wouldnt even think twice about going to see 9 out of 10 of the golden oldies at the festival but much less do i care when i know for a fact before any acts are even announced theres likely to be 1, 2 or 3 other acts on at any one given time i will be wanting to see!

its just that the golden oldies are the acts that make the news/media/hype

the other 99.9% of the acts/things to do are what makes the festival.

there will be tons of acts for that age bracket to watch over the course of the weekend without venturing near the pyramid

sorry but,

ludicrous question.

in what way would this festival be different to any of the other festivals? v,t,leeds, isle of white, rockness etc.

glastonbury is perfect the way it is, just could do with maybe... the prodigy, kasabian and kanye west.

then it truly would be sorted, getting all the other "usual suspects" on top is a bonus for anyone

I don't think it's a good thing to start excluding people from festivals, it surely goes against the spirit of what a festival is all about. Glastonbury's going to have a great eclectic line-up with artists to please young and old alike.

Have some faith and patience in Glasto, it'll always come good in the end if you're not liking what's been announced or rumoured so far. Personally, I'm over the moon with it.

they wont have words to say when the line up comes out

back to the original question, to be honest i think quite a lot of music savvy people in their early twenties (i like to think of myself in this category, not that i like to be categorised!) have kind of rejected the UK and tend to head to europe for their festival fix these days.

Europe obviously provides nice opportunities for travel and festival, with better weather and arguably better/more varied /better value line ups (depending on where you go of course).

using 18-21 as an example of underage still baffles me... however

personally i disagree, i have been to reading 3 times now (last year being my last) and i actually felt old and i am only 23! (was 22at the time) so not much variety in age of Audience in fact id go as far as to say all those festivals i mentioned are beer festivals rather than music based (i.e tents robbed gazebo stolen and gas canisters blown up!) and ud be hard pressed to find anyone over the age of 21!

Glasto has so much range and so many different arenas.. last year i saw Jay Z and Neil Diamond and thats before i planted myself at the John peel tent to catch some decent rock bands

i think the last thing we need is another underage festival, i think we need more fests like Glasto i.e i hear Latitude is like a mini glasto

my point being is u may not like the head liners.. but they haven't even announced the Other stage head liners yet or the John peel tent or even the dance stages!

Yo Daveinafield! (I'm trying to get down with the youngsters...)

I think your above line is it really. It's not about young and old. It's only about some of the younger people who choose to come on here and moan. I like to think there isn't an old/young divide - at the festival, nor on this forum generally. It's just a minority. But what these minority of young posters are doing by posting their moronic moanings is encourage a young/old divide. I've been dragged in too - reading these threads and tutting to myself (now that does sound like a really old thing to do!) about the younger people. But there's plenty of younger people who post on here with all sorts of positive stuff.

I wonder if it's because of the whole Jay-Z thing last year, and the stuff about making the festival more appealing for younger people that has attracted, amongst a range of new younger people to the festival, a minority who think that everything should be laid on for them exactly as they want it. Lastly, by "younger", I'm not really sure who I mean, but I don't mean it in a patronising way, but I guess in the way that people have been referring to themselves in their posts as younger people.

Oh I remember when.... I first went to Glasto as a younger person!

Nooo way.

My first Glasto (2004) I was 16 and went straight from my last GCSE!! It was amazing - especially the diversity of people there. Wouldn't change Glasto for the world. I despise events that are all of same age group, will be going for the 5th time this year, aged 21 (and 32 weeks pregnant) with my 29 year old boyfriend. An 18-21 year old event would be hell in my view. By this age, most people do not just mix with others their age.. from my experience anyway. What makes Glastonbury so special is the range of people there, and we intend to take our (will be) 10 month old next year. :P
