mark lip
Why start exactly the same thread in both the questions forum and in this one???
Glastonbury_2011
I think what most people agree with is that Glastonbury feels like a actual festival rather than a big gig such as Leeds or V. There's nothing wrong with festivals which are orientated solely towards the music and which bands are playing, but Glastonbury really does put those festivals to shame in every other aspect. I spent most of my time wondering around the site enjoying the vast range of different foods and different cultures. I sampled some of the Circus, performing arts, little-known bands and even lying down in a tent with stars on the roof for crying out loud. The freedom Glastonbury gives its punters is what really lifts the atmosphere. The emphasis is on having a good time rather than being busy worrying about keeping the punters in line. You'll have an amazing time - Unforgettable even. Just rememeber to take pictures!
William of Walworth
Make sure you wander all over the site as much as you possibly can to take in as much of the atmosphere in as many differnt spaces as you can. Don't forget the chance-encounter 'what's going on in that tent over there?' random discovery factor. And yeah, take a camera!

CrunchyFrog
My very first fest was Leeds 2006 and I really enjoyed myself. Then in 2007 we went to Glastonbury, it was like an awakening. The weather was awful, we almost developed trenchfoot! However, the atmosphere was just amazing. It's hard to describe without sounding too gushy or too "you had to be there man" but I was taken aback by the camaraderie. One of my favourite moments was sitting in the Park bar on couches with a glass of brothers listening to Jolene by Dolly Parton.
Mr Ploppy
Whats the atmosphere like? Well, the atmosphere is a layer of gases surrounding us that is retained by the Earth's gravity. Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1%. The atmosphere protects life on Earth by absorbing ultraviolet solar radiation, warming the surface through heat retention (greenhouse effect), and reducing temperature extremes between day and night. And in answer to the other questions - nope there are no 18 year olds there whatsoever! Only joking - of course there are but people of different ages exist too and find themselves capable of being at Glastonbury. Heck, I saw a kid there last year who was about 4 years old, I also saw a man that looked about 60. Dont worry though, there is nothing in the terms and conditions of your ticket that state you can only talk to people the same age as you. Its groovy baby, yeah! scaryclaireyfairy
glastonbury is a place where anything can, and probably will happen, it brings out the best in every person there, and when you have 135,000 people at there very best, you just cant imagine the feeling. incredible
thischarmingman
Yes. Duplicate threads really screw up forums and tend to be against most forums' rules for that reason. Duplicate threads started by the same person, i.e. deliberately duplicated, are a really bad idea. It also leads to a fragmented discussion. BlackHole2006
The atmosphere at glasto really is second to none. Everyone is smiling, everyone is happy, and everyone is up for a chat and a laugh. A good example (I know I have posted this before but hey) was during Manu Chao. We were sitting there enjoying the set and I was eating a crepe, and some random guy came over to us and asked what the crepe was. I told him, and then he got chatting to us. Anyway, he really took a liking to my dad, and my dad and this random guy, chatted through the whole set. My dad said he was a nice man (Partly because the guy agreed with everything my dad said). And this guy also provided one of the fu And that for me literally sums up what glasto is all about. All those little moments, and being in a surreal environment, people come out who you wouldn't normally expect, like one time there was this guy dressed as a nun, who came up to me and dad and I said "Nice Costume" with him replying "Nice Everything!". I mean, you wouldn't get this at other festivals, if some random guy came up to someone in a nun suit at reading and leeds or v then that person would think they were weird and probably beat them up. I think this year, if the weather was like it was last year then it's going to be the best one yet. I think everyone thinks it's cool to dis glasto, because it was perceived so badly by the press when Jay-Z headlined (Who by the way, played a stonker of a set). So now whatever headliner we'll get we will probably getting some tossers who think that teh headliners are shit. However I think it's kind of cool, and it's like a battle, us glastonians VS. the rest of the world almost. No one actually knows what glasto is like until they have been there, it's indiscribable. Josie's Cat
"and this guy also provided one of the fu" What does this mean please? BlackHole2006
Sorry! I was gonna say, and this guy provided me woth one of the funnyest moments of the festival. I was in a rush! Cheers, BlackHole2006
