Wooderson
Except the headliners are quality. Real quality. Not, recently become quality due to radio1 telling us, quality. The backlash is because of the intolerance of people posting on this site. People saying without a second thought that Springsteen and Neil Young are awful acts. When the former is regularly referred to as one of the greatest live performers in modern music and the latter has influenced a f**k load of artists. Mardy
me, I can't stand Springsteen and Neil Young doesn't do it for me, but I know I'll have a great time, even if it's in a tiny tent with about 20 other people going mental to some band I've never heard of, let alone seen before
jenw
why oh why oh why oh why do people insist on buying tickets to a festival that doesn't announce its line up until after tickets are sold and then bitch and whine about the line up once its announced *and this year's hasn't been announced yet!* Seriously the only bad thing about the early ticket sales has been that it has given people more time to moan! Chimps in Balaclavas
Give the lad a break, granted he should've checked for previous posts on the matter but he is new. People who type negative and insulting comments to people piss me off more than someone who comments on the line up. Yeah I'm bored stiff of reading the same 'line up' threads, so I choose to ignore them rather than using it as an excuse to give someone shit like half the sheep on here seem to do! FestMonster
maybe its just the fact that glasto has had all the big bands over the years and no one new is rising to the ranks of greatness at the moment ? look at kings of leon they really took off after glastonbury but when they where anoused as the friday night headlining people where moaning saying they shouldnt be, just wait till the end of the festival then say somthing but im sure you will have a great time and still be going next year as we all suffer from the glastonbury bug once you pop you just cant stop
ericlered
best set of pyramid headliners for a good few years who the f**k wants oasis, the killers or kings of leon? they have headlined every festival between them about 4 million times in the last 3 or 4 years basically all three are legendary
incident
Thats great - but im frankly not interested in these artists - fair play to people that are, but hopefully some acts i want to see are going to be on the other stages. Oh and before someone else jumps on me - ive tried listening to 'The Boss' and its just not for me.
Bort
hi all, this will be my 6th glasto and ive found over the last 3 times ive been, the line up is getting worse and worse and with emily saying it was going to be a momentous glastonbury this year i didnt expect to see a load of has beens headlining the main stage. what happened to muse, the killers, oasis even paul mc cartney was worthy but bruce springsteen and Neil Young? i know they say its not all about the music and agree but alot of it is the music. i think next year my money would be better spent at the likes of v-festival, leeds, reading. im not just having a moan and im sure i cant be the only one that thinks that for the £175 per ticket they should be doing better for the fans. please tell me that its not just me that feels this way and maybe post ya dream line up. William of Walworth
Oh do sod off with your 'efestivals Glastonbury fanatics are sooo intolerent'-type whingeing. People are allowed to say WTF they like and be as critical as they like of 'the lineup', or about any aspect of Glastonbury. They can be critical of 'the lineup' even before three quarters of it is even known But to start yet another thread replicating all the other existing ones on exactly the same subject as has been yadda yaddad on about already in a zillion other threads? Do us a bleedin favour.

dirk4danger
Both threads like these, and the inevitable defending to the hilt of anything Glasto, are tedious in the extreme. I find it sad that regardless of the line-up, the majority of the people here will defend it and attack anyone not 100% into the 'efestival approved' Glasto experience. Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen are both artists that have passed me by in 20years of listening to music. I've now listened to them and I can hear why. This won't stop me enjoying Glastonbury though, and it also won't stop me expressing the opinion that they're turd. In fact, I'll get some pleasure from debating the relative turdiness of them both. Different strokes, folks.

amfy
The diffference for me Dirk is that you didn't feel the need to start a new thread (which is the bit that winds me up tbh because theres enough of the bloody things) to tell us all how you don't like the headliners. You understand that different people like different stuff and leave it there. ...and if you were thinking of not going, you probably wouldn't be self important enough to start a thread expecting anyone to care (I don't know I haven't checked back but i'm guessing - you sound a reasonable sort) I have no problem with people not liking what they've heard of the line up so far. I honestly don't even have a problem with people who haven't grasped that most of the line up hasn't been annnounced yet. I especially don't have a problem with people who don't know yet that they'll have a great time whoever's playing. What I have a problem with is people who think their own music taste is so central to the world that we should all be bothered enough that they don't like it to want to respond politely to another thread about it. I've really tried to say something nice to such people or say nothing at all, so I do also sympathise with your view on people who react so violently to these threads, but I think I'm getting to the edge - i really am! djkf
yeah, I hate the headliners this year as well but I know there's plenty more to do than watch two ageing has-been's with production values that haven't aged very well at all. If Radio 1 is more your thing than I'm sure the other smaller stage headliners will be right up your street. Or you could spend all day dancing in the Dance Village/Shangri-La/Trash City till 7am in the morning. Or you could check out some World Music or watch Alabama 3 at the Jazz World Stage while sipping on festival strength Brothers Cider... ... Or you could cancel your ticket. I don't care what you decide.. Just shut the hell up already about the announced 1% of the lineup and start more threads about the Weather and "I heard from my best mates mate that Radiohead are playing". Thanks
grandadcollective
The thing is - everyone has an opinion and is allowed to express that opinion on this forum if they wish. It doesn't matter how negative or positive it won't change the festival (lineup I'm talking). Yes there are lots of threads and yes some of them will go nowhere that's just how it is. If you want to get rid of certain aspects then vote with your fingertips and stop typing, eventually they will fall to the bottom and be ignored. I'm not pro or anti this thread or others like it and I am in general just interested in what people think. I don't blame people for having different tastes than me or wanting to express their joy or aggravation at the lineup AS ANNOUNCED THUS FAR. What I do find unnecessary is people belittling the opinion of others because they feel in some way qualified to call it anti Glasto, or worse than that, resort to personal attacks but hey ho, that's life and their opinion is just as valid. crimsonking
If your basing the whole festival on just the headliners, I would have said last year was the worst one yet, thats in my opinion, but then you look around and you see a Hot Chip here, an MGMT over there, Ting Tings on this stage, Massive Attack on that stage, with a smattering of Duke Spirits, Franz Ferdinands, Goldfrapps, Panic at the Disco, Groove Armada, The Enemy, just mouth-wateringly ace acts all over the place. So in other words dont base a whole festival on just the 3 headliners, wait until the whole line-up has been released then say whether its the worst one yet, even then it would still be your opinion alone.
