I thought it had been established that this licence condition had been relaxed..

...well, registration re-opened again today (it's been closed since the 1st of April), so the possibility of a further sale exists (and presumably, having the registration open means that the maximum amount of people who might like to try for a ticket can)...in '05 there was certainly a resale in May (the friday after Liverpool won the Champion's league if my memory serves me right! YNWA...), in '07 there were at least two resales (but the coach situation made things more complicated than it needed to be and a sepereate resale was held for them)...obviously last year it wasn't needed, so we don't know what might have happened...so, this year, cancelled tickets will probably be sold after May 8th, but whether TOS informs us beforehand of when that might be (as they did in '07), or whether they just pop up randomly (as they did in '05 and '04) is anyone's guess!...in '05 there was certainly a thread here where people could add their details and a lookout was kept for when they came back up...might be an option for anybody still looking for one..

The offical line will be that any other returned/cancelled tickets will be 'absorbed' into the festival. But if there are a significant amount then there will most probably be a small unannounced resale in May - just keep obsessively watching here and the Seetickets website.

I for one will be, cos I got shafted by the Seetickets website debacle yesterday.

Although I reckon thats karma for me not going last year. I won a pair of tickets when the Guardian were giving away 50 or so (first time I won anything ever too!), but unforgivably I didn't go. I'd promised the wife I'd only go with her, but being disabled she wasn't up to braving the mud (nor was I up to pushing her in a wheelchair!).

So from the linked BBC item, the number of tickets was indeed probably 35,000 - and the fact that there was that number available should not have been news. Why the 100,000? Because they were confident that those would sell in the expected time scale, and then a bit of being "economical" with the truth gets the word out the it is "sold out". Rumour mongers never bother with little details like not all the tickets being available at the time, You only have to read this thread to see how well it worked. Starting the rumour that tickets are "sold out" gets shed loads of free publicity worth thousands, if not millions, even making the national news - and pretty much guarantees the success of the second sale. Why do it? Because last years sales didn't go well.I'll bet Glastonbury's advertising budget is the smallest of any of the big festivals - probably little more than wining and dining a few journalists and attending a few awards ceremonies and the like to provide some sound bites!

Not making it up:

/index.php?showtopic=108235&hl=pre-sale++100000">http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/index.p...re-sale++100000

But then we heard nothing after that.

I'm personally more curious as to what happened to all the tickets that had to be sold as coach/train travel packages. I mean, it's about one-fifth of the allocation. I remain unconvinced that they all went voluntarily. Especially as organizing your own coach/train travel is more flexible and often cheaper.
