Are the riot rumours true?

no really, you're lucky if you make it out unscathed. bands of kids patrol the campsites with the intent to rape and pillage. bonfires the size of playing fields. the scream of teenagers barely audible over the thunder of gas canisters, fireballs cutting lines in the smoke.

I've never had any trouble although last year a couple who was camped next to us got their tent chucked on fire. Pretty harsh, they had car keys in and all their clothes. Think i'll camp top of Orange next year yellow was a bit hectic. Other than that, don't worry about it.

I went to Leeds Festivals since 98(v) and always encountered trouble, ie setting fire to things (whole blocks of toilets, riot police etc).

2005 was my last year, i went to Glastonbury and experienced what a festival should be like, i went to Leeds festival a couple of months after Glasto, and it was crap, the atmopsphere wasnt there and on the last night f**king idiots going on the rampage.

It might of changed since 2005, but not even a superior lineup (for me) to that of Glastonbury, and the fact its 12 miles drive from my house will tempt me back!

Generally they aren't that much of a problem in the grand scheme of things there, a few tits having drank too much running around setting fire to stuff and having a fantastically fashionably rebellious time. Camp in one of the calmer areas away from the paths and you're really unlikely to have any problems.

does get quite outta hand in some places!! easy to avoid though, if ya camp in brown campsites nearer to the arena its chaos, last year there was a huge bonfire with everyones tents being thrown on, toilets were absolutely f**ked and loadsa fights broke out!! but all the other campsites are quite tame to be fair

I hate how you all refer to youths like myself as people have a few too many drinks away from our mums and dads. We're not all middle class c**ts at private schools. I've been going to Reading since I was 14 and I don't expect to be spoken about as if I'm some rebellious scumbag only going to cause trouble. I certainly dont remember the people threatening to set my tent on fire being under 18, they were much closer to 30.

Yeah, it really anoys me when the teenagers seem to get the blame for almost everything.

Why theres no metal = THE YOUTHS FAULT

Riots = THE YOUTHS FAULT

Why the lineup is supposedly bad? = YOUTHS FAULT

Fights? = YOUTHS

Gas Cans banned? = YOUTHS AGAIN

piss off!

theres hardly any violence, no one goes out to hurt people, they jsut go out to have fun. persoanll i can't see whats fun about running round shouting angry mob, burning some tents and tring to tip over an ice cream truck but each to there own.

I still need to repair the damage done (indirectly) to my tent last year at Leeds. Some kids camped next to us decided it'd be fun to throw everything they'd brought to the festival on a fire about 2m from my tent. When I politely asked them to stop I got told to 'f*ck off'. This was fairly near to Temple gate so not close to the arena. Unfortunately them doing that seemed to spur others on to come over with other stuff to throw on. When I told security they just advised me to move my tent away, not sure where I could've gone to be fair. Kind of took the edge off what would've been a very good festival (although no Glastonbury :) ). I'm still going back this year, but may camp even further from the arena or leave on the Sunday night.
