stop Anvil getting to Glastonbury

I want to start a campaign against Neil's campaign. :P

If they play, they are probably going to be on an early slot on the Park, so its barely going to affect the festival at all. They are a relatively unknown band so its unlikely there is going to any of the crowd danger there might be with popular metal bands. They would be a good laugh, would do no harm to the festival and would give a rare opportunity for people to see a heavy band at Glastonbury.

I agree with the concept, as if Glastonbury only booked on what the majority wanted then Kings of Leon would be headlining again this year. But without campaigns then good additions could be missed from the lineup. The organisers aren't stupid, they know what are good bookings and what are bad bookings. It doesn't matter if there is a huge campaign to have Westlife play (which there quite obviously wouldn't be), there's no way they would book. Or if they would, they would be in an early slot so it wouldn't affect anybody anyway.

Glastonbury festival of performing arts.

OK, have it your way, lets scrap the whole festival and put up huge screeens showing nonstop repeats of 'My family'. After all, it's the most popular comedy in England, loads of people will have fun.

roilf harris is shit. He's not funny, man I love comedy, but I don't love the 'hahaha rolf, yeah, it's incredibly ironic to go along an watch him at glastonbury' shite. He's crap. it's not about him being fun, it's about him being crap. same with tony christie, same with Anvil.

that's interesting, do you think it should be like a poll thing with the public getting to vote on who plays, and the setlist the band do as well?

Genuinely curious here. I honestly don't know what I think about that, I'll have a ponder over my dinner tonight. Nice one, that's given me something to think about.

peace.

Anvil are doing all they can to try and get booked for Glastonbury. You'll see the blurb from their campaign below, but what worth is it really?

Thousands and thousands voted for Rick Astley to win an MTV award - which he didn't get - via the Rick Rolling thing, but the vast majority of the people voting either didn't know what they were voting for or were voting for him as a pisstake. Which just goes to show how worthless these sorts of campaigns are.

Should Glastonbury book bands due to public pressure? If so, we'll soon have a line-up of Westlife, Take That, and The Saturdays .... nice.

I think that festivals should define themselves via the acts they book themselves, and not from public pressure. I'm sure all of us who have attended festivals for years are very pleased that they do, as its enabled us to find and enjoy many superb bands that would otherwise be buried under a mound of dross.

If anyone wants to start a counter petition one of those petition sites, feel free. It's got to be a better way than a future of The Sun's bizarre column and its like picking the bands for us.
