The Co-operative Verb Garden

After the success of the Verb Garden in 2008, it’s back bigger and better for 2009, thanks again to our very kind friends and supporters at the Co-operative… who enjoyed it so much last year they’re back for more!

We are expanding the programme and confirmed so far we have:

Four debates: Banking/ethical banking; Energy; “Being Young is NOT a Crime”; and the Music Industry - file sharing and it's impact on musicians.

Ian McWhirter (who raised his profile so much at last year’s Verb Garden that he’s since been elected Rector of Edinburgh University!) will be chairing the debates and also interviewing artistes performing at the festival.

Tom Morton will be performing his new show – “Tom Morton’s Drinking for Scotland LIVE”.

Late night adult stand-up comedy (including a show on Thursday night)

Films from the Camcorder Guerrillas

Late night cabaret

The Fair Trade Café (including fair trade wine!)

Anything else we can think of.

This year The Co-operative Verb Garden will be the focal point of a "campus", including: a separate writers’ workshop tent; a Verb Garden Fringe - "The Screaming Adverbs"; and an Eco-Sheiling - housing solar powered showers, mobile 'phone chargers, recycling workshops, etc. etc.
