naked people at glastonbury?

in 2003 i saw a naked lady get carried away by the security down near the other stage....she was enertaining herself with her magic fingers!! scared me a little. she didnt stop even with 4 security guys around her, mid air finger session was something i wish but sadly will never forget!!

in 86 my first Glasto, we were heading back up to the "tent" after the last band and as we walked past an electric pylon, a bloke was leaned up against it very naked with a girl taking advantage of his nakedness.....

at 14 is was shocked........

I thought what a dangerous place to do it.....

unfortunately the hippy ideals of glastonbury of old have mostly vanished, if we see naked people now its probably just a group of 'lads' on a stag weekend who have drank too much cider. If you want a festival with more hippy ideals like old glasto go to one like the big green gathering.

I have read on here brief mentions of the Naturist Field. There certainly isn't a naturist field there nowadays. And I do wonder if these people are actually referring to places like the Green Fields where there is a sauna where a lot of people walk and sit about naked on the small lawn area.

The saunas at Glastonbury are ace. Sam's Sauna and Lost Horizons(though they weren't there last year and it was another sauna instead). Most people go nude in the sauna and when the weather is good many sunbathe nude on the lawn. It's pretty much 50/50 guys and girls too. It's a great vibe.

I have often thought though there should be a much larger area where one can be nude, such as a proper Naturist Field. With a sauna or two, hot tubs, plenty of space to lounge about nude, and various other things. And it be restricted to just nude people.

They should also bring back the proper mixed open plan communal Greenpeace Showers again. Which they had as recently as several years ago. Everyone showered nude in a mixed envioronment with no problem atall, and it was much more in the spirit of the Glastonbury from the early years compared to todays where it's these sex segregated showers and private showers(The Kidz Field). Bring back those showers please!!! Bring back a part of the old Glastonbury!!!!

As for elsewhere on the site except for the saunas and showers, the only time I've seen nude people wandering about was in 2005 when this young woman(about 25) was walking about wearing nothing but a backpack and trainers up by the main path just up from The Jazz Field. She stopped off at one of the food stalls for something to eat! Also I saw a few nude people wandering about in the old Tipi Field.

It wasn't exactly an old man...but I had a drunk girl strip off her bra and shirt to throw on stage for the Kings of Leon right behind me at one of their shows...once she had gotten them onstage and realized she no longer had anything to cover herself, she decided to get directly up against my back so that no one could see/molest her. Fine, whatever, but I didn't know her, and didn't appreciate having to spend the rest of the encore having her bare breasts flopping up and down against my bare back (I was wearing a tank top...so it was flesh on flesh). On second thought, I feel that I should clarify that I am a straight female, as I realize some might have enjoyed that experience. I just found it rude and disgusting...which is coincidentally how I feel about the Kings of Leon themselves.

when i first came in 93 i seem to recall quite a few naked people around. my memory tries to tell me there was a nudism field - can anyone help me with this am i right. Is this another hippy ideal that has died? also ive not seen the guy carrying the cross for years..is he still around or has he bitten the dust too?

I wouldn't go barefoot at any public space - I know they say no glass, but you never know what you might step on, and I wouldn't want a spiked/infected foot to ruin my fun.

Hi sime. Respect to you mate keeping the old Glasto spirit alive.

You are a braver person than me to put up with the inevitable jibes etc directed at the naked.

Do you revert to being clothed when weather is poor (heavy rain etc) and when it gets colder in the evening/night or are you a 'hardy' person who doesn't feel he cold/sticks to his principles?

Also as you going about barefoot, isn't it easy to hurt your feet on rough ground etc?

Any problems with the security people/onsite police about 'decency' issue at all?

I hope you don't mind being asked as I am genuinely interested.

don't mind you asking at all good sir! I always wrap up when I'm cold. At that point, principles be damned, gimme a warm hoodie and some jeans sharpish! But have been known to do some nude rain dancing at the festival!

I do go barefoot when nudin around the place but don't normally venture down right into the main area where I'm guessing there would be more dodgy stuff to walk on. Mind you I would probably still go barefoot even then!

I have never had any problems at all with the police or security. Infact a few times I have actually walked past the police totally naked and they didn't say a word, ("Power to the people...!!!"), and no other festival goers ever seem to mind, all I get are lots of smiles and people coming up and chatting to me, which is really cool. I also remember once walking past a girl wrapped up in a big cloak who suddenly opened it up to reveal herself nude underneath, flashing me and other people walking past. I love Glastonbury! Both it and the people who go there are brilliant!!!
