Acoustic and Avalon Stages

I must admit I don't think I managed to see anything at either of these stages last year (my first).. I'm assuming the Acoustic stage is not.. err.. acoustic?! Is it just a focus on acts that are not too electronic? And what kind of music does Avalon stage? Any good experiences from these places?

A few years ago we saw Chaz n Dave in The Accoustic.

I cannot stand em , but the offer of real ale from the bar next door persuaded me. That and the fact

my mate had brought a load of soft toys with him that he got on Leicester market.

Lo and behold when Rabbitt started up , my mate launched a load of em at the stage , the bands

faces were a picture !

The Acoustic is great if it's raining but it can get packed. All sorts of music. In recent years I remember seeing acts ranging from Robert Plant to Joan Baez.

Avalon is tiny so get there early if it's someone you want to see. The Wurzels were great there last year.

Acoustic gets packed if there's someone famous playing, as does the Real Ale tent.

Not one of my favourite places TBH, dark and dingy in that tent during the daytime.

Avalon is a very nice venue, small, and the tent is open on all sides.

They are both good stages to be honest saw the Cat Empire in the Avalon stage 2 years ago it was tops but a bit small, on the plus side its very open and you can see from the outside.

The Acoustic is my fav tent at glasto last few years seen Glen Tilbrook, Bootleg Beatles, Beautiful south the blockheads to name a few its a great venue and rightly pointed out by a few on here the bar just below is one of if not the best at glastonbury...If the sun is out you can just lie on the grass and listen to the music top spot in my opinion!!

Perhaps my favourite venue of last year. I saw One String Loose last year on I think Saturday morning at the Avalon and it was brilliant, they got everybody Ceilidh dancing - or at least a loose interpretation of. Really set me up for the day.

I think it tends to be the slightly folkier acts that are on there, but don't let beards and fingers in the ear put you off - I'm talking music for the people, music for the folk...

(WTF am I on about?!)

Nice contrast between it and Trash City next Door.

i dunno about the avalon cos i not been there, but acoustic stage is yeh pretty much anything not too electronic or heavy, i loved that stage last year, spent a couple of afternoons just laying on the floor just outside the tent with my mates listening to the music inside, was wonderfull  plus i saw a band called amsterdam there last year whitch were realy good, and i never knew a fiddle could sound so good (at least i think it was a fiddle)...

avalon is one of my favourite fields on the site, seen some great alternative/folk at the avalon stage, try and get there at least once each time I go to glasto.

only been in the acoustic tent once (beth gibbons of portishead), but would return again if someone I really like played in it.
