I meant develop stage presence. KOL still seem to be largely the same live act as they were after there first album. I mean I enjoyed them at Glastonbury but there not a band that would grab you if you didn't already like the songs I suspect

does anyone else think this would have worked better?

Arctic Monkeys

Bloc Party

Radiohead

The Prodigy

I know Bloc Party suit being under Radiohead and im very happy about it, but at least Radiohead put on an amazing show and wouldnt be out done by The Prodigy. If anything, they would have the crowd pumped for Radiohead, so i think it would have worked well.

What are you talking about the AM will be amazing headliner , IMO. I didnt realy think much of Muse in 2006 but then again i didnt think much of Muse at V last year,(always the same and very boring).

I think its to do with taste , ive never seen the prodigy live even tho they have been at about 3 or 4 festivals ive been to so looking forward to it.

Your half right, Arctic Monkeys arn't all that great on a big stage. Havn't seen the Prodigy live before, but loud dance music with a big audience shouldn't prove too hard to translate to a big audience.

In terms of the how big the bands are in todays music audience, then its prety obvious why there that way round, to think otherwise is nonsence

not a big fan of either band but.....

are prodigy still pulling the same show as over a decade ago? ie.maxim running around, trying to look and sound "menacing" and keith like a headless chicken jumping up and down pulling faces a lot ?

i'm also guessing that they get the bigger reactions from "hits" from 93-97 and not much afterwards?

hopefully i'm wrong and you guys are saying they have err... developed their stage presence and live show right ?

Those who are saying they should be headlining, that's bollocks, in terms of popularity and sales etc Arctic Monkeys should definitely be above Prodigy. I've seen AM four times in all different size venues, I will admit they are a LOT better in small venues (Academies) than outdoor, but they've never been one to put on a show. They'll turn up, play their songs tightly and about 10x faster than on record and let the crowd do the rest. Prodigy will be fantastic before, and I agree they've a lot more chance of winning over the neutral crowd in a live environment, but the crowd sing-alongs will make Arctics fantastic. I can't wait for either, should be a top night.

Just want to put this point out months before the festival, the contrast between how to get a festival crowd going and how not to, will be displayed on saturday night at reading.

Saw prodigy in birmingham last night and I'm afraid Arctic monkeys will be shown up by them at reading, I dont think anything can follow prodigy, the monkeys especially.

Arctic monkeys really dont do it for me as a live band on the biggest stages, turner is no commanding frontman, although admittedly he doesnt claim to be. good tunes but you need more than that to headline

just like muse did it in 2006 the monkeys are about to be again cruelly exposed as a very average "live," act at reading. Only this time the monkeys are the headliner not the support!!

I can't see anyone being able to follow the prodigy on their current form. I was at the MEN gig last week and it was something else.

WHOEVER has to follow them WHEREVER they play is going to have to be on the form of their lives just to make an impression.

I'd say even Metallica (who i'm a huge fan of) would struggle following Prodigy at the moment...

and Metallica are slaying it recently, awesome everytime i've seen em in the last yr (3 times).

i saw the prodigy at v last year and they were my band of the festival (although not that difficult at v though!). people were jumping around a long way back from the stage so hopefully they will be able to get through the barrier of monkey fans at the front!

i am looking forward to them the most out of the lineup announced so far.
