Its the best festival ever-just too expensive!! anyone know of websites with comps to win a ticket? thanks !
MartinGooding
i think its still by far the best value for money big festival i cant find any other festivals where u get anywhere near as much for your money, at V ur paying the same ammount for 2 days or 3 days at Leeds and then u end up getting ripped off alot more for alcohol and food, in my opinion Glasto is still the best value for money, but gud luck getting a ticket anyway

Paul ™
£35 a day it works out as. To go to a campsite would cost between £10-15 a night. To go to a gig to see 2 or 3 bands is around £20+ Seems good value to me
swan2009
music festival in croatia is like 50 quid for a ticket and 50 quid for a return flight and 20 euros a night for accom or free camping and has an amazing line up- http://www.soundwavecroatia.com/ warm weather etc! i cant go due to being on a nursing placement at the time but thats just an example of the price it should be! so im going to croatia in august for a week instead! cheaper than glasto tickets for flight and accom for a week! Alcatraz
Exchange rate, especially in Croatia helps. I'd imagine festivals in countries using the Euro now will be not as appealing financially as they used to be
Mardy
but that's even more expensive for the locals when compared to the average wage than 180 quid is in England
Paul ™
European festivals are mainly cheaper than UK festivals, due to several things including infrastructure costs, staffing, security, less competition so bands get paid less etc The example you gave has 4 stages, there is plenty similar sized UK festivals for the same cost.. swan2009
yeah its good value if you can afford it!!! thats alot for me and considering i only paid around 100 quid for the first time i went ? and it was better then than was last time! i just think its sad that ppl who love music and love glasto cant go due to the increasing price-soon it will be only middle class that can afford to go as by next year 200 quid a ticket ...5 years time 300?? 10 years 400 quid?? who knows all i am saying is its good value for money when you work it out per day but ppl like me cant afford it-and i know alot of ppl in my position who have been a few times and now the price is just too high
port
do you have a part time job whilst your doing your nursing studies? If you want to go bad enough a few extra shifts is all thats needed.
swan2009
yeah i work 26 hours part time-3 12 hour shifts a week in a hospital but i have a flat to pay for and uni books to pay for-so my part time job doesnt help!

Mardy
I always think it's expensive when I see the money go out of my account and wince a bit, but treat it like a holiday, and 180 quid for 5 days away + entertainment is alright. You'd be hard pushed to find another 5 days entertainment for that, i reckon.

swan2009
i agree with what your saying when you say its best value for money compared to other festivals in the uk but that doesnt make the prices being charged anymore affordable to me!! so yeah i think its a good price for what you get if i could afford it.....sadly i cant! just wish they would stop raising the ticket price and the booking fee every time!! it makes me sad i cant go anymore!! swan2009
yeah my mate did that in 2005 but he ended up not seeing much of the music at all and he said he wouldnt do it again -i met up with him at the fest when we was working and he was shattered-worked 4 12 hour shifts out of the 5 days he was there! plus i dont wana spend my only holiday working!! only get 4 weeks off a year being a nursing student -on placement all summer when other students are off!! bummer! so if i got tickets for glasto its when im on placement doing 3-4 12 hour shifts plus working so kinda would be shattered! Mardy
average UK salary= 479 quid/ week. Glastonbury ticket = 180 quid Average Croatian salary 109 euros/week soundwave ticket = 50 euros Comparatively, it's pretty much the same, with the croatian one, if anything, being slightly more expensive G= 0.375 of the average week's wage, soundwave = .45 of the average week's wage)
