theonlynick
first glasto this year and was wondering, which campsites are most likely to flood? We are thinking of camping in kidney mead or big ground, do they flood generally if it downpours? Thanks

Pinhead
The ones that back onto the railway embankment always seem the worst, as the old drainage culverts silt up. North of Pennards, south of Other Stage in 2005, south Dance Field seemed bad in 2007. Dragons and Big Ground / Kidney were bad once with 'rivers of mud' flowing around tents. Obvious really, but the higher ground is typically drier. But its going to be mega-hot anyway isn't it?
Alcatraz
A lot of work has gone into the areas that flooded so badly in 05 and 07. Hopefully, we'll never see if these improvements have made any difference
Funkfarley
If you are camping on a hill, the higher up you are the less likely to flood. The bottom Pennards was bad in 2005 but the drainage has been modified since then...dunno how it would hold in floods of Biblical proportions should it happen again though. ThomThomDrum
Lower Mead near the John Peel, where the Pylons are can get pretty crap. For 100% no floods- North of site, Lime Kiln Ground; South of site, South Park Enjoy your 1st one and fingers and toes crossed your bare foot all week! Kaybee
Lime Kiln/Hitchins stayed "civilised" in relative terms in 07. Also nice and quiet if that's what you're after. Bit of a hike when totally drenched and covered in mud having fallen over in the Park though.....

budvar
I don't think it'll ever be like it was in 2005 (a canoe!) but I still wouldn't camp at the bottom of Pennards Hill. The crazy thing was the rivers that were running into it - just bad luck if one of them runs through your tent. I'd love to believe it's going to be dry but I've been to four and it's rained at every one...
TomfromStroud
Avoid this one:

Tugger2k
I camped at the bottom of Pennard Hill in 2006 and we were told that we had to get out quickly on the Monday at about 6am as it was going to flood. Definitely best avoided, regardless of weather.
