bexface
I do like Bloc Party although their songs are a bit samey, they're fun to sing and dance along to! I've seen them twice before at Reading so I'm not too bothered about seeing them again but if there's nothing else I want to do when they're on I might check them out. paolo1980
Let slip in XFM interview (see link) http://www.xfm.co.uk/news/2009/bloc-party-for-glastonbury1 Quite possibly one of the worst live acts I've ever seen.

Tugger2k
+ 1 Why the f**k do people feel the need to constantly shit on anything they don't personally like, it adds nothing.. FFS it's 10 weeks today to best fest in the west! Try spending your time and energy on things you like rather than wasting it on ripping into thing you don't
fur_q
no irony to see here, move along, no irony here im not agreeing or disagreeing with shiting on people btw just find the irony of having a go at people different from you interesting
drugged
I think people are being unreasonably harsh on Bloc - fair enough if you don't like them, but their albums show that they are actually a pretty decent band. And Live-wise, plenty of peformances i've seen sound pretty much similar to the records, i'm watching Glasto 2007 now and it seems decent enough - I admit the singers voice is a bit off sometimes, but it's pretty much the same as it is on the record most of the time. It's a bit OTT to call them dire. There are MUCH worse bands out there - look at things like T4 on The Beach for example... I can imagine them being good when it's dark at a festival. Their songs would very much be helped by that kind of atmosphere I think. Most fest vids i've seen have them stood on a fairly small bit of stage - which don't help them shine. Icewulf
Have to agree with the last poster (I would, just look at my avatar), but I think people are being unfair on the old BP. They give their performances a huge amount of energy, and just look at the way they are received by the crowd at their gigs. TBH, you moaners are in the minority. Watch this video of them at Reading last year if you want to see what they are like after dark:

Icewulf
I haven't even given their new album a listen yet as it get's to the point where you become bored of the band completely. Kaiser chiefs can take a bow as they're guilty of this, both bands need to disappear properly.
Sparticus
Just saying that over exposure isn't always a good thing (the darkness anyone? heroes to villians in just over a year). I understand they're a very popular act, but did you see the reaction over on the reading/ leeds when they got announced, 3 years running and the word underwhelming summed it up perfectly. Festivals (in regards to lineups) are about the big coups, much like everyone has been goin on about springsteen playing this year, and bloc party just arn't a coup, mainly for the reason that they'll be at 20,000 festivals this summer. drugged
I can see your point with over exposure. It's both good and bad though - this years glasto will be my first festival, and the fact they do play so often gives me a chance to see them (which i'm pleased about). For people that go to festivals every year however, in places with much less alternative stages than glasto I can see it being a bit too much. They are only playing because of demand though, and you don't have to pay attention to them - they aren't exactly in your face as a band. But yeah, point taken. Petewasbristol
I can take them or leave them TBH. I loved parts of their first album, but don't think they have excelled themselves since with the follow ups. The great thing about glasto is regardless of who is playing and where, there is always something else to go and see, so im not sure why people are up in arms about them playing? Its not as if we all stay around the main stages all day is it............
Yokel Again
one band i have never been able to get on with. i shall be elsewhere.
kaiser_soze13
Not really surprised to be honest. Seen them a few times and they've been a bit hit and miss. First time I saw them they were dreadful! Twice I've seen them and they've been average, seen them once where they were outstanding. As long as they play This Modern Love
Curtains1
Seen em twice, Average band to be honest. Would see em if nothing else on....which at this stage looks likely but yeah not as bad as tearing out your eyeballs and eardrums.
glimmers_of_hope
By October this year I will have seen Bloc Party 12 times, Unfortunately, they have always fallen flat outside I've seen them at V, Reading and Glasto- I say this as someone who is a massive fan. They alsways seem to bottle it. I remember the first time at glasto Kele introduced about 4 songs as being "Slow jam's" However, Inside they are brilliant and I've never been disappointed. If they get the right slot at Glasto they could be fantastic, the set list for the most recent gigs have been great but who knows. I'm glad to see them at Glasto.
