LOUDEST PORTABLE STEREO?

We usually take a cheap 15 job from argos and some mixed CDs to get us in the mood. I like a bit a of music in the morning, I always wake up a couple of hours before my mates and my boyfriend so like to sit and chill listening to some music and reading a book until they surface. Always means I have started on the drink before them though which can be quite interesting.

Often go back to the tent mid day as well to stock up on drinks, have some thing to eat, my boyfriend has a power nap and get some warmer clothes for later on. Nice to have a bit of music then too.

I usually only go wondering at night one or two nights. The rest of the time its round a camp fire with my mates and once again a bit of music.

Making the CD's is like a traditional festival build up now to be honest. AND there is always someone who is with us that does not know a band that we all plan on seeing. So by taking a little stereo they can have a bit of a listen. You know its always better when you see a band and you know some of the songs.

Never had any complaints surely its no worse then the people with guitars, bongos, random sing alongs or just general pissed shouting and carrying on.

The only time I have ever been really pissed off with anyone at glasto was a couple of years ago, 2007 I believe, some guy was playing some kind of crazy DnB that sounded like noisia at double the tempo. This was at 4am.

It was not the music that annoyed me, I was quietly nodding off next door and the music had engrained itself into my mind and I was at peace.

The suddenly some stuck up aunt who sounded like be had never set foot at any kind of festival in his life knocked into my tent and shouted at our neighbours.

"I'm sorry, but would you mind turning your music off, I know its glastonbury and we're all here for some fun, but I'm trying to sleep." (say it in your poshest accent)

I'm a tolerant kinda guy, but really, if it pisses you off so much get some ear plugs.

I should add that shortly after the incident my friend shouted out "will you stop shouting, I'm trying to listen to the music". Which due to my state left me laughing myself to sleep.

Not sure what I think about this - it's one thing being tolerant of other peoples enjoyment but I think Drum & bass at 4am is taking the piss a bit and the other side of a tolerant society is respect for other people.

I think i'm with the main website on this 'Please don’t bring your own sound system - the Festival has music pretty well covered'

Do you know the actual defination of a sound system Spider?

Maybe if you had bothered to read the rest of this thread you would have seen that someone has already explained things for you.

A portable stereo is not a sound system!

If you are really that bothered about someone playin a few cd's on a portable stereo around the campsite, then i dread to think how many other things are gonna piss you off at Glasto.

Maybe you could just stay at home and watch on tv?

If you are looking for a decent speaker but just to plug your MP3 into, you cant go wrong with this lovely little thing:

altec-lansing-orbit-portable-speaker-for-ipod.jpg

Altec Lansing portable speaker. Runs off 3AAA batts and just plugs straight into your player.

£15 at good old Maplins. We bought ours in Oz the other week cos the van speakers were shite and tbh, the y work incredibly well even at half volume from the MP3. The sound quality is brilliant and the size, only 12 or cms across so takes up no space in the luggage (compared to some of those IPOD docks you see everywhere).

Im on the hunt for the loudest possible stereo for Glastonbury!

I have used a JVC RV-NB10B (big bazooka sub woofer MP3/CD stereo) for around 10 festivals

now and just wondered if anything louder has come around since, as they have been

making these ones for over 10 years now!

Heres the link to it...............
