i wouldn't say they are dull....it is interesting music. just becuase it's not fast, heavy and doesn't have a 35 year old prancing about in a pair of shorts and vest doesn't make it dull.

they won't headline nme though as according to the organisers the 3 headliner will be american and rock.

robx :P

Search the threads for one of about 10 links to the Rock Sound article, it says 2 NME tent headliners still to be announced, both rock acts. Lostprophets have already been announced, so that still leaves one more. The quote was from the guy in charge of booking the acts I believe

So let me ask this.

If we are due a big American Rock headliner, someone that's going to make us say "wow... a great booking for the second stage",then why, why on earth are they not promoting it. Why are they not teasing us by saying "oh guess what, weve got this great headliner....buuuut, were not going to tell you until next week/month/whenever"?

That's what they did with LostProphets (who, whether you like them or not, are a big booking for the stage). The day the lineup came out they were doing just that, saying "next week we have a very special announcement..blah blah blah", and 8 days later announced LPs.

So where's the song and dance? Wheres the organizer promising us a (to quote a few on this forum) "American Rock headliner".

It's non existent. There moving on to announcing the Lockup now, because besides the special guests on Sunday, there done with the bigger bands on Main and NME. They've moved onto Lockup, and will most likely follow that up with the bottom half on the NME and Main, and then the Dance tent and FR tent.

It makes no sense, none at all.

Hold on... American... Rock... Could it be?!

Seriously though, when the line-up was announced Neil (who I've got to say has been conspicuously absent on this subject) said theat the only NME headliners amongst the bands were Gossip/Glasvegas. I don't know where the "American Rock" thing came from, but it wasn't anywhere official, though all signs currently point to it being the Offspring as they're in France the same weekend on the day in between where they would fit in at Reading/Leeds. As to why they haven't announced it yet it could be any number of reasons (including a potential drop out - though it seems unlikely due to the French show if it is The Offspring) organisers always stagger announcements, sometimes big ones even if the festival has sold out!
