alemart
Anyone one else done this? Last year I went to see Jay-Z at Pyramid, didn't particularly enjoy it and wish with hindsight I'd gone to see Massive Attack on the Other Stage!!! ramragon
save your hindsight matey, left jay z after a few numbers and suffered a majority of massive attacks performance, not the best ! this was summed up rather humerously by the clothes stall opposite the other stage selling tshirts on sunday morning with "does anyone know why massive attack were so shite last night" printed on them as well as other tshirt slogans slagging them off ! my major mistake was choosing the fratellis over the enemy, for this i should have been kicked all the way from the pyramid stage to the other stage ! remote
I've done it loads of times. Just part and parcel of going to the best festival in the world, mind you, shouldn't be so bad this, the line up's shit....

Laura_Babs
Luck of the draw! I however don't like to be wrong...I still can't admit that maybe I should have seen Jay Z last year, but then I did enjoy Massive Attack. Actually, my biggest problem is not choosing to see the wrong act but just wanting to see everyone!!!
johnmcga
Not worth worrying about - at every festival I've ever been to there's always at least one "hmmm now in hindsight why did I decide to go and see them?" band. It's part of the Glastonbury experience. Best thing you can do is forget all about it and wander on to the next stage / band, ideally stopping at the Brothers bar en-route. grumpyhack
That's why the festival should run for two weeks with a full repeat in week two to allow you to see all the bands you missed first time round (in my dreams).

Homer
I don't think Massive Attack themselves were particularly bad, just that they were hard to enjoy in the slot they were in. I, for instance, arrived fired up after watching Manu Chao and MGMT (never mind the merits of those particular bands - I'm not a huge fan of either but they are very upbeat - and found it very hard to 'zone out' and enjoy Massive Attack). Basically, on a Saturday night, I don't really want to watch something that I have to really stare at to enjoy - though when the big hits came out it was very good! p.pete
At reading I stayed in the tent I was in because I had a good position, seeing Ladytron instead of alternatively Pixies or Kasabian. I'd seen Pixies the previous week but I've never seen Kasabian so bad lack of movement on my part!
Monkismo
Made the foolish error in 97 to watch Kula Shaker over....Radiohead. All based on how far it was to the Pyramid Stage from our tent. Managed to sludge over (proper muddy that year wasn't it) for the last 2 songs but have regretted it ever since and jumped for joy when I got Radiohead tickets last year for...oh yeah the weekend of Glastonbury. The Big G took precedent though and I've stil yet to see them properly.
firecracker
I watched the cribs over kings of leon last year, having the seen the cribs before i really should've watched KOL, and since glasto they've rocketed and will only be playing huge venues from now on!! ramragon
i suppose its how you follow and percieve the bands you see, i was disappointed with massive attack along with seemingly a large amount of the crowd who saw them, i'll admit that i've always enjoyed their albums which prompted me to go and see them. just dont think they lived up to my expectations. as for the kings, ive seen them live 6 times from the early days of youth and young manhood tour, and much preferred them on a smaller stage compared to seeing them at the metro arena which holds around 15000. i enjoyed their glastonbury appearance, but i think more because ive followed their career and progression from smaller band to glastonbury headliner. WildChildRockChick
I went round for Massive Attack, but that wasn't where my head was at the time so I ended up at Jay-Z, out of curiosity. Its not that Massive Attack were bad, I just couldn't get in to it on the night. It happens that was at festivals sometimes.

freeak
I really regret seeing Al Green in 99 ( I could hear it half asleep from my tent) and Africa Express in 2007 which clashed with DJ Yoda, Mark Ronson, Annie Mac and Adam F, but Yoda and Ronson were too busy to get into the east coast tent and Annie was far too slow with her mixing. joshwarrr
i missed dreadzone last year, well most of their set, cus i had to take my little brother back to the tent. Also walked past Jimmy Cliff on Jazz world and his set looked quality. Bastard little brother Edited April 18, 2009 by joshwarrr
Alcatraz
My tactic is if there are two bands I want to see, I don't go to either of them
