How is your festival shaping up?

I had been very much of the opinion that glastonbury isn't all about the music. (I must point out that this is my first year).

But i was expecting the line up not to be much to my tastes, i didn't mind and i planned to just wander around and soak up the atmosphere most of the time.

But due to the sheer size of the festival i just had a look at the rumours page and just from the TBC artists 2 months before the festival, there are 20 acts i want to see already and i can usually only fit in about 30 in at a festival like reading (where it is much more seeing-bands orientated).

i was just wondering what people's thoughts are on this, what do your days look like at the moment based on what we know (as well as some stuff that you're reasonably hoping might come true).

This is mine, in as much of an order as i can manage:

Friday

BB King or Neil Young (will probably end up being Erol tho)

Michael Franti

Slam

Erol Alkan

Fleet Foxes

Dreadzone

Dan le Sac VS Scoobius Pip

Saturday

Animal Collective

Kasabian

DJ Yoda

Dub Pistols

Crosby, Stills & Nash

Kissmet

Sunday

Blur

Caspa

Unknown Day

Kanye West

Easy Star All Stars

Tinariwen

Bon Iver

Altern8

Scratch Perverts

The Bays

Diesel Dave

Ed Byrne

Metric

Eagles of Death Metal

Patrick Wolf & Sonic Youth (PLEASE!!)

The Lancashire Hotpots

The Bobby McGee's

No more line up then please, i think i have easily enough to be getting on with. I absolutely can't wait and the next time i see my festival buddies its going to only be 2 weeks til the festival.

Anyways, how are other peoples weekends shaping up, i hope you can be more realistic than me.

I wish people would stop saying Kanye West is confirmed. I really don't want to get my hopes up.

For me the reast of the rumoured line-up is deeply disappointing, with the exception of Blur and DJ Yoda there's nothing else on that list that I'm remotely interested in so if Kanye isn't playing, which is looking more and more unlikely then I'm going to be spending a lot of time nowhere near the stages.

Shaping up pretty well, Started to get exited now and over the last 2 weeks I've found myself checking line up updates more and more.

Very happy with the acts anounced so far, I've had Bruce drilled into me since a very early age as he is one of my dads favourite artists so im glad to finally get the chance to see him,

Not so familiar with a lot of Neil Youngs stuff (I know he's a legend and all that but never realy sat down and listened to much of him) but will definatly give it a go before June,

Was always a Blur fan over Oasis when I was younger and with them spitting up I though I would never get the chance to see them live...... so all in all 3 good headliners for me,

As far as the rest or the line up (and rumours go) Theres quite a few I would like to see, Madness and the Specials definatly, but tend not to plan more than 3 or 4 acts that I definatly want to watch as I always find something interesting on the way to the stage and end up missing them.

Ive got a feeling its going to be a 'good un' this year

My first Glasto, and much like the OP I had hoped to have a fair smattering of decent bands, as well as plenty of time to check out other things, but I already feel like I have clashes coming out of my ears!

So instead im going with seeing Kasabian and Spingstein on Saturday, and Blur on Sunday and unless someone else im desperate to see comes up, the rest of my time will be spent, very much going with the flow, seeing what I fancy as and when its happening, and see whats there to distract me enough to miss bands id otherwise see :(

EDIT: Oh christ, and how could I forget, definantly seeing the Specials.

Well i brought my Glastonbury ticket with the idea of just spending the whole of the festival exploring and then having V as my music festie. But looking at the two lineup's now there is not one single person i want to see at v and absolutley loads i wanna see at glasto!! The main highlights for me are tommy sparks, franz, madness

T in the park - Elbow, Kings of Leon, Blur, The Killers, Pet Shop Boys, Jeff Mills, Snow Patrol, The Streets , Jane's Addiction, Pendulum, Snow Patrol, Manics, Dave Clarke.

V Festival - Elbow, Oasis, Happy Mondays, Pendulum, Fatboy Slim, Dizzee Rascal, MGMT, The Streets, The Killers, Biffy Clyro

Reading & Leeds - THE FLIPPIN' PROGIDY!!!!!!!!!, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Iam Brown

If Glastonbury wasn't an infinitely better festival I'd be going to one of those instead based on the line-ups. Even IOW is looking better this year.

Edited because there weren't enough exclamation marks after the Prodigy.

At this point in the year the rumours list is usually pretty good, especially the big acts which are normally all decided. There might be one fairly big act that's still a surprise (Kanye hopefuly!), but I think we can be pretty sure we know who most of the big acts are going to be.

I'm not even thinking about who I'll be trying to see/fit in till the full lineup with timings is announced. I probably won't even go into detail till our tent is set up on Wednesday (hopefully morning if there aren't queues).

It's not that I don't care but there's no point in fretting or making plans at this early stage when there is so much more to be announced.

There will be clashes and, unfortunately, far morer than we already realise as a lot has yet to come.

My main concern always at this stage is that I can never believe I'm really going till I've got the ticket in my hand.

went last year with a razor sharp idea of where to camp, who to see, and where to go, it all went tits up as we were directed to a different car park miles from where we'd planned and camped up as quickly as we could when we got in. of the bands i wanted to see last year i think i caught 6, this year im just going with the flow and im really not too bothered who i'll see. the more plans you make the more rigid your experience, wanna spend me time exploring and finding things, supping beer at shangri-la and trash city and catch whoevers playing when i walk by

yeah. i'm never going to get to all of those. but here's hoping, cos if i do it shall be quite a weekend. i'm determined to do more of the proper glasto stuff. stone circle at sunrise, trashcity at 3am, etc. i'm really looking forward to it now. i like thats theres more to do than i will ever be able to.

This point is often made when people complain about the line-up but it's not valid.

At this point in the year the rumours list is usually pretty good, especially the big acts which are normally all decided. There might be one fairly big act that's still a surprise (Kanye hopefuly!), but I think we can be pretty sure we know who most of the big acts are going to be.

Well my weekend is hooked by the Pyramid thus far!

Young on the Friday

Springsteen/Kasabian on the sat

Blur on the Sunday

Also: Need to catch BSP, Metric

The only musician that would change anything for me would be Ryan Adams, but given that he is having a break from music, I can't see that happening!

Roll on June!!!!
