I love it when things like this happen, purely because I have some friends who are a bit download elitist, and always say L+R is going to be crap. Now L+R robbed their headliners. After last years Metallica and Rage as well (who they said would never play leeds :D).

I've only managed to get a day ticket but its for Sunday Leeds so will go and see these, panning out to be quite a good day (for me lol).

I'm so so surprised about this, and over the moon so now i have the opportunity to see them twice if need be.

And to all the hater who think the line-up is rubbish, bar the headliners, I think it's again as solid line up as 2008! And things can only get better, if FNM can come in and be announced to play below the headliners, then more bands of similar magnitude can play say, on the sunday!....

These next few weeks are gonna be interesting... (PS - I wonder what Andy C from Download is thinking of right now...)

Oh.My.God!

I can't begin to describe how happy this has made me. I had to check that it wasn't April 1st.

Faith No More were pretty much the only reason I was going to go to Download. There were a few other bands I wanted to see but, on the whole, the lineup left me cold.

I'd been considering selling my ticket and it now looks like if I decide to, I can do so without the fear of missing Faith No More :D

I'm incredibly skeptical that this will happen. Surely Download will have exlcusivity rights over their main stage headliners. If this is true, despite it being a massive improvement for the Reading line-up, it's surely a bad thing for English/British festivals on the whole as it means that 2 of the three sub headliners (if that's where they play) are already playing Download and the third played the same slot last year! Rather than a good booking I see this more as an oppertunity to give a big middle finger to Download (which, let's face it isn't in direct competition and rarely sells out, let alone within half an hour) which strikes me as unneccessary

How come people think they will be slotted in on the mainstage and not the NME headliner? They perfectly fit in with the Rock band that is said to be headlining, they are announced for the day infamous Jamie T day who everyone is pretty sure is not headlining. Lost Prophets who have headlined download are headling the tent also.

Surely NME headliners is the logical conclusion, unless I have missed something?

Okay swallowing my pride a bit here (hey, I can admit if ive got it wrong) but how sure are you Neil, that they will be playing Main and are not playing NME?

Kaisers playing 3rd from top, and Fall Out Boy playing 5th from top would suprise me (pleasantly... but surprising none the less)

lets say this is true which makes the 2nd headliners FNM, Prodigy and Bloc Party. Do Bloc Party measure up to the size of the other two. If this happens I wouldn't be surprised to see someone slot in between radiohead and bloc party, hopefully Morrissey.

I don't know about the exclusivity rights - after all Lostprophets ended up playing V last year.

And I think this might be more of a case of Faith No More being a bit naughty and announcing this earlier than they should have...although saying that admittedly it kinda does now undermine those "UK Exclusive" claims that Download were making.

Ah well I'm happy anyway!
