I used to have to wear a suit to work and have worked in jobs for years where what suit you wear and looking immaculate etc has for some reason been really important but I got made redundant in Jan and my new work that I started about 4 weeks ago has no dress code and most people here wear jeans etc. At the weekends on and holidays I always look a right state and for years I dreamed of wearing anything I wanted to work. Now I finally have the chance I can't get my head around wearing my scruffs. I still shave every day and always turn up with my shoes polished, shirt iron and creases in my trousers. I've relaxed about it a bit more and and slowly dressing down bit by bit, so for now I'm still in a shirt but with no tie! Soon it might be jeans and a shirt and next year, well who knows!

It's worse than that... I work in a smart office and every day I am on this forum checking for line-up rumours, updates and general Glasto natter as I'm so excited about going, but I can't share it with anyone at work!

The people I work with would frown upon it because the perception of anyone going to Glasto is pretty negative

I got home one Friday about 7 years ago, suited and booted, after yet another week away from home as a freelance software engineer and realised that I was living to work rather that working to live. Jacked it in and set up a business in a completely different trade.

I now dress how I like, have no idiot "Human Resources" sticking their nose into my life, employ only one idiot manager (me) and really enjoy life. I might be skint but by god life is so much more pleasant. Best move I ever made.

I work as a media buyer and go to quite a few marketing meetings which require suits/ties and all that but in the office its wear whatever you want. I've still got my last 3 wristbands on (2 glasto and 1 benicassim) but must admit I do try to hide them whenever I'm in a meeting - not that i should be ashamed!!

As a drug worker I could wear what I wanted but now I'm the manager I dress up for work. I just think that when someone demands to see The Manager, I should show them the respect of looking like I might be the Manager! Manager's of other NHS services (and other services in general) look smart so I think I should give my service users the same respect & not think I can turn up looking how I like just because they've got drug problems.

I used to think I'd hate to dress up for work but I like that I now have work clothes and MY clothes. I like looking and feeling different at the weeekend - it's all part of the wind down/cut off from the working week.

On reflection - maybe i need to think about how much my clothes define me!

I work for Environmental Health and have to wear Shirt and Trou with smart shoes, but i dont mind it, its nice to come home and slip into jeans and a hoody to chill in. Kinda seperates the working day from freetime, i used to wear jeans and stuff to old jobs, but i like the way i look in work now, kinda luls the public into a false sense of security and gives me a feeling of importance ha. I love my job and am happy to wear smarts for the day, its a sacrifice im happy to make :D

As for Glastonbury, im always gonna take 3 pairs of bottoms and a few hoodies but end up wearing the same Cargos, Wellies and a T-shirt for the 5 days of debauchery (:( top spelling :) )

(shit what have i turned into, im only 28 and i sound like an old man
