Williams Green (Q Mag Tent)

With Glastonbury one can never be sure on these things it seems, but the guy who does the GFL maps says the venue stays as the Queens Head, and Williams Green is the name for the area. Named after William Eavis, Michael's grandfather.

No more info than that at present.

it was someone more senior than the guy who does the maps - and who has their office in that general area during the fest - who told us that it's Williams Green. I'll be sticking with my info.

Out of interest, did he say Michael's Grandfather?

I was passed the info by a colleague, who'd said something about nephew I think and not grandfather .... but that could have been my colleague getting things addled or it could have been him mis-hearing that part (or me too!), as he was told this during the noisy-at-times Glasto Emerging Talent finals.

I'm still erring towards what the map chap told me. I asked specifically about this, along with some other clarifications (One of which resulted in an immediate correction to the Fine Guide).

But that said, the map has been wrong before, so I won't be 100% until there's something else to corroborate either way - e.g. Official Line Up listings for GFL. And I'd not trust Q... They cheekily tried to name it 'the Q stage' a few years ago

next time we're speaking with someone at Glasto we'll double check it .... but anyone who is familiar with how they run things will know that these things are often very confused, with no one person totally in the know about anything.

However, in most instances such as these, the guy our info came from is normally the one who has it right. He's the most centrally placed person for these sorts of issues.

If eFestivals spoke to who I think they spoke to, then that person should certainly know. One possibility is that there was a change of plan between times. Maybe with added entertainment stuff adjacent, they decided to use the Williams Green name in a different way. Dunno.

having now checked this out, you're indeed right - the area is called Williams Green, and the Queen Head is indeed the Queens Head. Williams Green will have more than just the Queens Head offering entertainments within it.
