Aragorn
I hate how they've suddenly got popular with people my age through their t-shirts and their name being dropped in Juno. Goo is definitely one of my top 10 albums ever.
OneLittleFish
Am I young at 23? Either way, saw SY on their Daydream Nation Don't Look Back tour and they were spectacular.
biscant
If Sonic Youth play GF there is no question but I'm there. Headliner on the Other Stage on Friday night. Start with a highly ironic "Dirty Boots"... ">
timespeedsup
Yes please, but no thanks to Friday night - Sonic Youth supported Neil Young back in the early 90s, so it would be a travesty to have to choose one or t'other...... HOT JON
i'll probably do something silly with excitement if/when this turns out to be true on the other hand, that Reading thread is far from convincing - and even if i believed one sentence backed up by no evidence what-so-ever on an internet forum, i certainly don't understand why 'some-one doing sound on the other stage at glasto' would know who was playing that stage two months in advance. but i have been known to be wrong (once)
lovelessrapture
Sonic Youth aren't playing Glasto. Look at their American tour, it's from June to July. They're in chicago one night of Glasto. So that's pretty conclusive evidence. Good thing I'm seeing them tonight really

Kyelo
I bought one of those Sonic Youth tshirts at T in the Park about 3 or 4 years ago. I got that and 2 others all for a tenner, bet they don't pay that in Urban Outfitters!
a robot
But I can see what you mean, it's the same thing with people suddenly starting to like someone they haven't really cared about before just because they are headlining the festival they are going to. ivan
Having met many people who go to V I can safely say that they are only interested in what is current and Oasis. I think of that festival as a big scatter gun loaded with cash, taking pot shots at any band it has recently heard on radio 1 or read about in smash hits. They probably got paid more for that slot than they would for headlining the Other Stage and anyway I've also heard from some of these V types who've actually 'found' a band themselves, done a bit of leg work, that 2nd top on the 3rd stage at V is the golden ticket for bands with a bit of oomph and far reaching influence and is usually pretty quiet because the toss pots are all off watching the latest bit of MOR dross to be dressed up as 'indie' or 'alternative' because it's got a bit of feed back or a jangly guitar or two and,and..... Sorry got a bit carried away there. Better stop now, pacemaker batteries running low and it would be a Kool Thing and much better than being chased by a Bull in the Heather, if they weren't loud enough I'd shout Turn It Up, Turn It Up! And if it rains I'll have Dirty Boots. See what I did there? Shit 'eh.

pezzypops
Sonic Youth will be on Later with Jools Holland tonight, BBC2, 10:00 for the first time in 17 years. make sure you watch! i reckon they'll only get one song though as its only a half hour show and Depeche Mode & Lily Allen are both on too. they should just have a half hour of SY!
