Really good to see that Wychwood are launching a Children's Literary Event at this years festival. Speaking as a professional :) , there are some great authors taking part who I'm sure will inspire young readers, and the not so young too :)

What a great idea, here's hoping it's a great success to be built on and will be the first of many

A few years ago I was part of a team that organised and ran the first public library at a major music festival, we had author visits and readings, we didn't tell anyone to shush or issue fines, I did get off on wearing glasses and a bun for the occasion  but drew the line at American tan tights ....Ahem....anyway we did have a lovely £20,000 worth of books to give away.....all the people loved it, it was a real success....if a tad expensive :)

Oh, Carol Ann Duffy, don't get me started...

I studied her for GCSE, and while her poems aren't bad, when i saw her read at the Poetry Live! thing, she has absolutly no charisma at all. She speaks all her poems in the same boring monotone voice, despite any emotion the poems are supposed to be relaying.

In my opinion, she's a poet who will turn kids OFF.

Get John Agard instead. He's great.

But I rant
