Watch this great little documentary before you make up your mind..

Interesting documentary on Norwegian Black Metal. Featuring Darkthrone, Satyricon, Mayhem, Emperor and Dimmu Borgir. Originally broadcasted on Norwegian television in 2003.

let's go with a little too extreme

admittedly only just watched a couple; i know of most of the bands mentioned due to mates who like them, never knew about their criminal activities.

As much as i dislike christianity, these satanist are more laughable.

and i'd go as far to say that this isnt music, obviously its just my opinion and i probably dont get it

on the other hand though i cant help but feel that its quite simple to get and it is just bad.

liking the documentary itself though

will they play glastonbury? probably not

maybe by the end i'll see a different side of them, edit it if so

Well, last episode is pretty good. Gaahl takes the boys for a little "nature walk"..

This documentary is based on Gorogroth, which is not the best band, but might be a good band to base the documentary on.

I think Satyricon or Dimmu Borgir could have done a great gig. This band is sort of "main stream" in norway. They have been a-listed on NRK (norwegian BBC) so.. it`s just a bit dark rock..

I watched one of the videos and it's all very intersting, but to be honest there is more chance of Jesus playing with Mohammed on drums and Abraham on bass.

Isn't Eavis a methodist? I know that's fairly liberal and about promoting joy and hapiness, but I really can't see him booking any of that lot, even without his well documented concerns about crowd safety.

hmm finished it all

maybe dismissing it as a form of music was harsh still it doesnt really do it for me

documentary was fascinating

started to like gaahl even though he did come across a little unbalanced at times

very nietzschean, i think he even mentioned the superman ?

loved quite a few of his pieces of art though

On a seperate note, norway looks like a beautiful part of the world

still can't see it at glastonbury

It would be nice if there was something more than pedestrian, < medium rock on offer. I for one would greatly enjoy some metal, industrial, punk and general hard rock. For a festival the size of Glastonbury it surely wouldn't be difficult to have some on offer.

The typical negative stereotypes of alternative peeps (wouldn't be surprised if someone ends up replying with them here by the time I click submit) are even more baseless than claims such as, most people who like dance music are hopeless drug addicts.

Most alternative types are pretty harmless and good natured. I am one myself and in certain situations and areas in everyday life we get a fair bit of grief but we generally don't let it change who we are or what we like. Just think of the mindset it takes to get into this area of music and it's lifestyle, going against the grain rather than just being a sheep. Could it not be argued that it would be a good idea for Glastonbury to attract these types of people?

Interesting thread,

I'v always thought there has been bands that would be good at glasto but are deemed.........heavy

like

ACDC

Def lepeard

Matalica maybe? (would be last years jay z in terms of loads of press lol)

rage against the machine

red hot chilli peppers

linkin park

A whole load of bands open up to the festival which i think would be good
