Well, much as I love Dylan, last time he played Glastonbury he was crap, really really crap. I'm not sure I would bother watching him again to be honest...

I love Bobby D, he's a geniune artist, visionary and poet.

That said, he can be f*****g awful in concert, He's not for the casual punter and there's no guarantee even a rabid fan will recognise the song till midway through the second verse.

I love him, but no way would I put him on if I was organisng a festival.

to be fair, he's got much better since glasto 98 (???)... you can hear him now, his mumbles are audible ... thing is, he's got arthritis and doesn't play as much guitar live. and he barely faces the audience anymore.

having said that...he'd have been nice to have on before the Boss on the Saturday. or before kasabian.

He's playing a series of gigs in baseball venues in the states at the time. So that's why.

Eavis did say that he would have to get him back one day however. I think it was in last year's Q review interview thing. The one where he says "It's been the best Glasto ever" every year.

As for Zimmerframe's live shows, well I broke my Dylan live cherry on Sunday and I loved it, sure it took a little while to adapt to what he's done with the some of the songs, but he's been playing some of those numbers for the thick end of fifty years now, so he's well within his rights to play them differently. I think it's good - they live, they evolve - and you can hardly accuse him of faxing in a performance like some artists.

And of course he wins because he recorded Desolation Row anyhow.

he must have been truly dreadful in 98 then, as i saw him a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty awful :0(

he stands behind a keyboard most of the set, played guitar on one track, and the only words had for the audience during the whole gig were 'thank you my friends' just before an unrecognisable 'blowin in the wind' for the encore
