Arrival Time for Campervans?

Hi,

Can anyone help. It's our first year at Glasto as a family

and we're driving down from the frozen north on the Wednesday.

It'll take about 7 hours to get there so advice please.

I'm thinking it might be best to split the trip and stay somewhere else on Wednesday night.

If we get to Glasto on the Thursday instead, will the campervan fields be full or will we struggel to get a spot?

If we get there on Wednesday night will there be anything for us to do? The kids are 10 & 12?

Thanks

Hi there, we have taken a campervan for a number of years now, I would go straight there and get there as soon as you can. I have noticed many more people arriving on the wed. You cannot choose your spot as there are stewards to place you. Make sure you have enough space for any awnings etc you need to put up, if you arrive late at night you can always finish making camp on the thurs morning, but staying overnight somewhere else on wed night is probably going to waste festie time. have fun!!!

...if you arrive late (ie after dark) on wednesday then you will most probably end up in the campervan field closest to the entrance as they don't seem to like people driving around the fields in the dark...this means quite a walk to and from the festie each day...whenever we take a van we always arrive by 10ish on wednesday night (even though we leave Dublin at 7am!), so this always happens...however, since you are in a van, both of the rest stops just before Bristol (Strensham and Michaelwood) have plenty of space to sleep in the van and then you can grab a spot of breakfast in the morning before hitting the festival bright and early on thursday. We've never done this on the way, but generally leave at about 2am on Sunday night/Monday morning and stop there before heading for the boat back....there's as many campervan spaces as there are tickets, and stewards to direct you to the next spot, so I wouldn't worry about not getting a space, just depends on whether you want to miss out on rambling around the festival on wednesday night when you arrive...I'm not sure I could be that close, knowing the festival has started and miss it! :O
