hi gang!! have not been on the boards for a while. Quick question about the Monday. Usually I leave the site on Sunday afternoon to beat the mad rush but this year i'm staying until Monday as i'd like to see the Sunday headliner - when is the best time to leave that day? i live in oxford so will take about 3 hours to get home and i'll be taking the shuttle bus to castle cary then the train (or perhaps a coach to bristol - not quite sure yet). When do you all leave?

thanks in advance

We have always left on the Monday morning about 7ish to get the bus back to Heathrow and it's usually quite quiet about the buses then?

I have heard that the later you leave it to go and get the shuttle buses the worse it is few queues etc, so I would advise leaving early on the Monday!

we got up last year at 4am on the monday and left by 4.30, had a 360 mile trip back to the northeast so want to miss the traffic on the motorways. getting out of the car park was fine by that time, they reckon it was a nightmare getting out after the verve finished last year

I always go back to Bristol - have done every Monday since 94 - and I usually just get up and go as soon as a wake up. Leaving then - about 7am-8am I suppose - I've never encountered any problems.

I'm from the "run away! Run away!" school of leaving Glastonbury!

as long as you leave site before 9am you should be ok getting out the car park. basically the earlier you go the better.

We got in the car at midday 2007 and didn't get out the carpark til 7pm. Last year although it was dry we decided just to leave it til about 5pm and got straight out. However friends of ours left at 1.30pm and also had no queue. Depends on the weather really!

Last year, I woke up at about 6ish, woke everyone else up about half an hour later and we trekked up to the shuttle bus sometime between 7 and 8 o'clock. Then we proceeded to queue for a good two hours before getting on a shuttle bus, and then at least a good hour and a half at the train station.

Got home to Plymouth at about 2.30 in the end, and considering it's only a two hour train, there was a lot of queuing during the day which was a bitch tbh. I though we would have avoided it by getting up there that early, but suffice to say we didn't.

Leave at 5am or before. You'll drive straight out.

You may do this at other times, but I have arrived at my car at 7.30am before and sat in my car for 12 hours.

This graph is useful,

as is this thread

**edit - didn't realise you weren't driving, but I think these rules apply just as well to coach queues etc ***

In 2007 think we left the campsite about noon but queued for 2 hours to get the coach to Bristol. It was so miserable standing in the rain for 2 hours waiting for the coach but my flight was around 9pm to Belfast so plenty of time to spare.
