Sam Crawley
They didn't say they're driving.. I wouldn't recommend the M4 on a bicycle. Did a brief stretch of the M3 in West London by accident once, not much fun

Laura_Babs
well, from London, I go up the M4, come off at the Bath turning, through Bath, Radstock, Shepton Mallet and on to the A37 that way. The walk to Pennards is a tad further than coming in the other direction, but its the quickest way out on the Monday morning. ukslim
Seriously - wing it. Get Google Maps or whatever you prefer to give you directions to Shepton Mallet. Or use sat nav if you have it. Before you get there, you'll hit signposts to the festival. Follow whatever route those signs send you on. It might not be the "ideal" route, but it'll get you into a festival car park, and it's a route the powers that be want you on. Should you end up in queueing traffic, put the radio on, relax and think of it as festival buildup. Whichever gate you go in at, Pennards won't be too much of a walk - it's a big site, but it's not *that* big. If you don't pack too much (and it's not pissing it down!) you can scope out the site a bit before deciding where to camp.
Laura_Babs
I'll add as well that we don't leave until usually 6, well 6.30 by the time we leave and arrive at 8.30ish. You will have very minimal traffic at that time of day so be prepared to stop so you aren't left driving around near the site. Apparently they won't let people que to get in. venuss
if you leave at 3am, you will fly down the M4 and reach there in 3 hours my bus from Heathrow takes 3 hours, but it goes A303 past stonehenge First time at Glasto and directions have been left with me (Mmmm) Leaving London about 3am wednesday morning can anyone help? Fairies for Change
We come from the west too and have recently switched our M4 route to the A303 - there is the notorious Stonehenge bottle neck area (after the Amesbury roundabout) but to be honest around 5am it just isn't there. I would go this way if I were you...
cejx
I second the M4 route. The official advice is head down the A303 but we have always gone down the M4 and never had it busy. We had an interesting drive round the one way system of Bath once, after a friend in the car in front opted for very odd navigating - I don't reccomend that part. Anyway, M4 always works well and come off where Cejx says. But don't tell too many people like I am or else they will all abandon the 303 and then the M4 will be busy.
