Leaving on the Sunday night - need to be back in London

Hey guys,

First time driving and heard lots of rumours about leaving on the Sunday so would like an honest answer.

Need to be back in London for Monday morning so we were thinking of leaving straight after Blur has finished on the main stage (all our tents will be packed up etc. in the car). Firstly how long will we be waiting to get out of the car park (presume Blur will finish at 11) and secondly how long will the drive home be (i.e. presume there will not be loads of traffic!)

Drive back to London is about 150 miles.

what we did in 2007 was packed up our stuff during the day and moved the car as near as posible to the exit for a quick getaway. we left before the who played and drove straight out

If you leave before the last song and beat the rush back to the car park you'll be on the road in about 10 mins. If you wait until they've finished and leave with everyone else you could be stuck in the car park for well over an hour.

This probably sounds like a completely mad idea, but I knew a guy last year who watched the Sunday headliner, enjoyed the last evening, then got the first train back and was in work on Monday morning!

(I understand that Monday was a painful day for him, but if you want to experience the last night of the festival properly, it can be done!)

Not fussed about the last night - done it loads of time before - just can't afford to miss something on Monday that's all.

Sooooo based on these ideas I *should* be out of the car park by about 1:30am ish and back in London by about half 4. Not too bad. Just need some coffee!

left last year before the verve and got straight out ok....was back in london for about 1.30am

Leave before the encore and there should be no delay whatsoever. We did that the year Moby headlined as the kids had school on Monday! Of course, leaving before the headliner would achieve the same thing but I wouldn't miss Blur.

This is all very good advice!!!

I shall be leaving before the Blur encore me thinks!!! Having packed up and moved the car during the day!

Have to catch a plane from Gatwick at midday Monday!!!! By Monday evening here, afternoon there i'll be on a beach!!! Joy!!!
