Anyone from Bristol on here?

Hi

I am going to be taking a van to Bristol (or Surrounding area) to pick up the drink for our Party of 24. I am just wanting to know if anyone knows of any good (Selection/discount) off licenses in the area. I'm talking 1000 beers or more so gonna try my arm at getting a bulk buy discount.

Any Info would be more than welcome.

Thanks in Advance guys

EDIT: Oh and I have put off licences/sales into yell and it only returns a couple, maybe i'm putting in the wrong wording? Surely there must be more purveyours of fine booze in the Bristol Area than that!

OK, i have a few ideas for you.

Have you thought about places like Makro and Costco. It's been a couple of years since I lived in Bristol but I know there is a Makro and I'm pretty sure there's a Costco as well. Otherwise I'd try a few wholesalers if you could, rather than offies as they tend to be a lot cheaper, it can be worth getting in touch with local breweries as they sometimes do cash and carry type things with a large selection of booze on offer.

Wine merchants can also be a good shout, they often do supplies for parties and given enough notice should easily be able to get hold of the booze your after. I have no idea if its still there or what its called there used to be a good wine merchants at the bottom of Park Street by the bridge, they might be worth a call and if they can't help I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction!

There are a few big offies around, and remember we once negotiated a 10% discount with one when about 12 of us bought a slab of 24 beers each. Big ones include the Threshers at the bottom of Gloucester Road - http://www.threshergroup.com/our_stores.as...tcode=BS7%208AE - and there are a couple of big ones, i think, down by temple meads and just down the road from arnos vale cemetery - http://www.majestic.co.uk/storelocator/store-details/id-164. The latter will leave you right by the end of the Wells Road (A37) which heads right down Glasto way.

To be honest though, you may be best with a large cheapy supermarket, Tesco at Eastville maybe (next to the Ikea on the M32, can't miss it). Worth calling round and seeing what prices are and what deals they may do for that volume.

The one at the bottom of park street is the very friendly but very classy Avery's Wine Cellars - http://www.averys.com/. Not sure what they'd make of someone trying to buy 1000 Stellas. Still though, helpful and knowledgeable folks, worth a call!
