The Common Cold

Yeah, did it in 98, felt like crap before i got there, then found the site knee deep in mud.

Decided by the friday to head home as was too ill. Was walking back up towards to farmhouse to pack up my tent, and spotted something in the mud. Picked it up, washed it off, and found it was what i thought it was, an all areas backstage pass.

Decided not to go home, and spent the rest of the festival living it up in the dry, walking on grass and with a cheap bar. Must have been a good boy in a previous life.

My friend got pretty illl last year. Bad cold, really run down, sore throat. She didn't have nearly such a good time and has now opted out this year. :P She's one of my best mates so pretty gutted. She had always loved it previously.

I have been ill for about a month now and it doesn't seem to want to totally go so I'm really scared I won't shake it off for Glastonbury. Keep coming out in a variety of rashes too which isn't too nice! ;)

2007 on the Friday night I had a really bad fever and ended up going back to my tent instead of seeing Bjork.

It was horrible! I kept going hot and cold, and when cold it's very hard to warm yourself up in a tent, despite having all my clothes and my coat on!

And of course I was camping near the pathway close to the John Peel, under pylons that buzzed when it rained, so couldn't get any quiet to sleep and had horrible feverish semi-concious nightmares.

The people in the next tent had a small pharmacy with them, unfortunately none of it medicinal!

Fortunately on the Saturday morning it had passed and I woke with nothing worse than a sore throat - and a few pints of brothers sorted that out :P So it didn't spoil my festival too much.

Aye me too, I seemed to be ill for most of the winter, now I've got hay fever!

NHS drop in centre reckon that my immune system is used to London germs, but having moved to Merseyside I need to build immunity to northern germs that can survive at lower temperatures. Not sure if she was having me on or not :)

Around this time last year I had twice recurring acute tonsilitis - there would have been no way I could have gone if it had been during the festival, thankfully I was fighting fit come late June!

It does scare me though, I mean I've been looking forward to it since last year, imagine not being able to go because your not well!

Better start popping some vitamin C or something!

Fingers crossed we will both be OK! Maybe the London immune system thing is the same for me?!? I've recently moved to the West Midlands. Then again, it does sound like the kind of thing a doctor would say to get you to leave! B)

Yeah me too, I've been snotty and coughy for a week and having problems breathing too.

Luckily I've never been that sort of ill at Glastonbury although in 2004 I did have a rash over my torso (allergic reaction to medication) and in 2007 a rash down the side of my face caused by god knows what, on Saturday night I went up to the medical centre cos it was so hot, itchy and red and had really started to worry. Cause still unknown. Usually my skin is pretty okay and doesn't react to things, so maybe I'm allergic to Glasto...

I ate a dodgey egg in Amsterdam a few years back and it kicked in just as I got to Rock Werchter. Possibly nothing worse than food poisioning in a cheap tent when the weather is so hot.

Number 1 rule of thumb - No eggs in the week running up to a festival

Thats basically the only rule actually
