No Leftfield = No Bragg?

I know that, despite the lack of Leftfield, Phil Jupitus and Mark Thomas are both still going to be at Glastonbury, doing their thing, but what about Billy Bragg? Does anybody in the know, er... know?

Massive gap from the 20th of June, so he'll be there. Let's hope him and Wedgey Benn and Mark Thomas find a place to shelter for the year until the Leftfield returns next year

I think that means next to nothing.

He always plays Glasto, and he's in Bath (very close by) the day before. End of disscussion, as far as I'm concerned.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, I didn't see you said that the show was IN glastonbury. hmmmm. I'm less certain. When did you ask him?

This has been a constant worry to me for months. Braggfest is an institution, Glasto with out Billy would be like Morcombe with out Wise, Anthony without Cleopatra. I have twittered and emailed him but the little begger has yet to respond.

I'm following him about on his Wales tour at the beginning of June so I'll badger him then.

We only got told just over a week ago about BB. We have two shows, one on Saturday one on Sunday. As soon as I'm allowed, I'll post the line-ups.

As for Leftfield, I must confess I was assuming it would be back next year. I dont think it was just about funding. Some new unions had only just offered support when we found out it wasnt happening. The organisers were also happy to have a smaller area if necessary. It wasnt their idea to make it bigger. I'll see if I can find out more from the organisers.

I would suggest that leftfield is not returning due to the utter apathy surrounding politics these days and sadly this has been permeating glastonbury for the last few years.

The loss of leftfield is yet another step towards glasto becoming "just another uk festival" I'm afraid.

sad times.

You are speculating. Peaceman (see his post above) seems to have some slightly harder and potentially more hopeful information.

I'm with you completely about it being a real shame that Leftfield is not there this year, and partly with you as well about the lack of politicised awareness/interest among many.

But it could be that there's still a bit of hope at least that Leftfield might yet return in 2010.
