Wednesday

This will be the first year that I'm at Glasto on the Wednesday (me and my mates are going to arrange it so that we're there for the time that the gates open!) and I'm just wondering what's open, and what's up and running. Could anyone give me a handy pointer with the following areas. Are these areas closed, semi-functional or fully functional on the Wednesday?

DAYTIME:

Kidz Field

Theatre Field

Circus Stuff

Green Futures Field

The Shops

NIGHT-TIME:

Trash City

Shangri-la

Dance Village

Cinema stuff

Basically, as my groups head-co-cordinator, I'm asking you how we should spend our time on the wednesday, considering that we have the entire day to play with....

Any thoughts?

I usually spend Wednesday getting things sorted at the campsite, have a BBQ, few beers, wait for others to arrive, help them set-up, go for a wander, sit at the brothers bar, stagger back, fall asleep, wake up, climb into the tent, fall asleep again.

There isn't really all that much to 'do' on Wednesday, but that's kind of the point.

Use the time to soak up the vibe, explore the site, chat to randoms and generally settle in, which you need to do to make the switch from normal everyday life into Glasto life.

Typically I chill round the tent with some beers and spliff flicking through the programme untill around mid day, assisting people in my group with putting up their tent up as they arrive, figuring out who else wants to see x band etc... Then we set off on a very general and relaxed circuit of the site stopping off for extended breaks by the cider bus, brothers bar and stone circle. Then back to the tents after tea for bit of a power nap to see us through a night of more cider bus, brothers bar and watching the sun rise at the stones before bed.

There's no hard and fast rules though and definetly no schedule.

Typing that out has just made me very excited!

Hope that helps :-)

I'm hoping to be all set up by midday so then we will wander over the Brothers Bar although may explore first and get me bearings on everything. In the evening will maybe have a BBQ or cook some food then after that will get even more drunk and find a decent venue to dance the night away at :(

No disrespect but I just can't fathom why anyone be they man, child or beast would want to watch a film on the first day arriving at Glastonbury, surely there is something more unique to Glasto you could be doing? Each to their own and IMO of course, but it just confounds me.

Watching The Goonies in the cinema field - I think it was 2005 - has to be the best film experience I've had! Thousands of people rocking up with beers and blankets, and one of the best films ever made, playing at the best place in the world - fantastic!!

Last year we were up the Park till quite late, they eventually got the silent disco up and running but it was a good few hours late! Wednesday is all about wandering around, getting your bearings and getting all ready and set up.
