I've been having a bit of a badge moment and there is a convenient opportunity to get a few more of last year's badge made for anyone who lost theirs or didn't get one for whatever reason. For those who don't know, they're metal badges 2.25" in diameter and they look kinda like this but so much better:

monorail%20badge%20preview.jpg

These are quite obviously Chinese stylee copies rather than the 'real' thing of course as they were only available to those lucky few Monorail Riders last year but, hey, no one's gonna know that if you don't tell 'em are they :D

As for cost, it kinda depends on quantity and so on but I'm thinking something like at least £1 and preferably £2 (or more !) to WaterAid per badge. Please bear in mind that ignoring the quite considerable time spent on doing the artworks/prints etc., it's going to cost me at around 50p per badge to have them made although I'm happy to do this PROVIDING that WaterAid end up with somewhat more than it actually costs me in cold hard ca$h !!!

Please also remember that saying "yes please" and either not collecting and donating for it or not donating a realistic and appropriate amount effectively means Mr.WaterAid is losing out bigtime so many more peeps around the world will continue to suffer or die due to a lack of readily available clean/safe drinking water and basic sanitation :D Just a few pounds per head is sufficient to provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene education to those who need it most. Maybe I could suggest that spending less than half of the cost of a pint of your favourite beverage at Glasto on a nice shiny badge (with the added benefit of not having to recycle said half pint just a few minutes later !) in order to raise a few quid for Mr.WaterAid is a *very* small amount of do$h *very* well spent ? If you think Glasto toilets are 'bad' or the Glasto water tastes cr@p then just remember that they're both around a million times better than having nothing at all of course !

Oh yeah, just one other thing I really should tell you, me old mate Mr.Shaman reliably informs me that saying "yes please" and then not doing the 'right' thing will defo result in a severe and most violent case of the trots lasting the entire Glasto weekend and beyond plus your man-bits shriveling and falling off or your lady-bits sagging to knee level, which ever is most appropriate :D But seriously, I know the words "sensible" and "responsible" are rarely (if ever) seen on the same page as anything Glasto-related let alone in the same paragraph or sentence but maybe we can make an exception in this case ? You know it makes sense and all that :D

Please vote to indicate your interest so I can get an appropriate number made and also post something on the thread as well so we all know who is helping Mr.WaterAid do his good stuff and more importantly, so I know exactly how many badges you actually want ! I'll be posting an updated list of names/quantities on a regular(ish) basis so everyone can make sure that I've got it right. If your name isn't on the list at the time the badges are ordered then there is every possibility that there wont be enough to go round and you'll miss out :D so to ensure that yours are reserved for you, make sure that your name is on the list like now ! Mucho thanks chaps :D

The very latest version of Mr.List will always be shown below - if your name isn't on it or I've c*cked up somewhere and not got the right number of badges allocated for you or whatever then please post a message so I know what's wrong and I'll get it sorted ASAP. This list will be updated regularly(ish) with additions and any corrections that have been posted.

Mike, you're a top top man!!! :D

WaterAid appears to be doing extremely well via all you very nice folks this year, and I couldn't be more pleased for them. From a conversation I had with Michael Eavis around a month ago, it seems that WaterAid's ability to do its valuable work has been badly hit by the fall in exchange rates for the pound, and so is in urgent need of any money it can get - Michael told me that he'd given them an advance on the money they'll be given from this year's Glasto to help them thru these difficult times.

eFestivals will of course be continuing to donate around 1% of its turnover to WaterAid, so your use of eFestivals (and buying tickets via eFestivals, or buying eFestivals merchandise) is helping too. Thank you. :D

Great idea. Count me in for three (though I've only voted once in the £2 section of the poll). Should I vote twice more to help you get numbers right?

Also as I don't want a dose of the galloping trots for not paying up, where and when do we meet to hand over the readies?

What a wonderful gesture. I am more than happy to donate loads of pennies to water aid,,,,sign me up for four badges. In my book 4 badges equals £20.

P.S Is the mono rail anywhere near the secret underground system?

Wow, thank you so much for this! I was absolutely gutted when I lost mine in the States at the start of the year!

I'd love to get two, so I can put one back on my bag but without fear of losing it again as I'll have a back-up I can keep, and I'm very happy to chuck in as much as I can afford by next month (at least £2 for each badge) at the meet.

Same question - do you need more votes on the poll if you want more than one badge?

Thank you again!
