Wilco's new album (titled 'Wilco - the album' ?) is streaming for free on their website. Only heard it once on the tiny, and tinny, pc speaker, but it sounds pretty good to me.

also one show in London at the Troxy, on August 25th. Never heard of the place before, but it looks very nice on it's website

very happy :D

Best band around at the moment. Full stop. No whining about album being leaked etc either.

This is so cool....

"Well, we made it nearly a month with copies of Wilco (the album) floating around out there before it leaked. Pretty impressive restraint in this day and age. But the inevitable happened last night.

Since we know you're curious and probably have better things to do than scour the internet for a download (though we do understand the attraction of the illicit), we've posted a stream of the full album at http://wilcoworld.net/records/thealbum/ . Feel free to refer to it as "wilco (the stream)" if you must.

We also have our usual guilt abatement plan for downloaders. If you have downloaded the record, we suggest you make a donation to one of the band's favorite charities, the Inspiration Corporation -- an organization we've supported in the past & who are doing great work in the city of Chicago. Information and donation button here:

http://inspirationcorp.org/.

That's all. Enjoy the stream. Tickets for summer shows, etc.

http://wilcoworld.net/tours/ Note that we'll be holding a free online midnight screening of the "Ashes of American Flags" film this Friday night (at both midnight US Central time and again at midnight Pacific). So get the popcorn or whatever together and be sure to log on and tune in on Friday.

Nels is barely on the new record. One or two signature lines (theres a particularly fiddly bit on "Bull Black Nova" that rules!!!!) but nothing like the last two records where he provided a lot of the momentum - particularly live.

This album reminds me of "All things must pass". It's huge in scope but intimate in feel. It's very immediate and acoustic in tone. The tune with Feist is gorgeous and the last song "Everlasting Everything" is enough to bring a big silly eejit like me to tears. More power to them. Its their best heart string tugger since some of the highlights on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Best band to come out of America since God knows when. Utterly undervalued and under-appreciated but still continue to surprise and delight. 9/10 for me and an early contender for album of the year.

all so very true!

It really is baffling why they're not more popular... but if it keeps it easy to get tickets, It's ok.

They were absolutely phenominal last night. The band gets better every time I see them, and Jeff just looks like he's having the time of his life. He said at one point "I'm the luckiest guy in the world.... and I'm not even kidding"...

... it was his birthday, everyone sung Happy Birthday for him, roadies brought on a cake, and then Jef asked everyone, just for once, on his birthday, if everyone would clap along, like at a Queen concert... so when Spiders dipped just before the end, there was a minute or so of We Are The Champions... :P

Great fun, amazing songs, Nils' playing was out of this world... roll on November at the Forum :P

Yep. In Co Laois. Great festie too. Very like a boutique Glasto. No/very few dickheads at it, no twats running around drunk wrecking the gaff and no one gig a year bog snorklers either. Always interesting acts on and its about 10% the size of Glasto. Nice food stalls too! Ill be heading down this year depending on whos playing, as will Wooderson I would presume.

bringing the thread back on track...

I bet they (Wilco... remember?) will do at least one or two shows to tie in with the End Of The Road festival.

After making the effort to see Bruce in Rome last year (and that was some show!), I was considerning going again to see Wilco...

but I don't think I can afford it. :P

And Wilco in Rome won't be as special as Bruce was

probably :P
