Tent type?

The type isn't so much of an issue.

What's far more important is the build quality.

A good quality pop-up is great, a bad one is almost unusable. Same for Dome tents.

What are you looking for? Size, Price Range, Requirements, etc?

I've used a dome tent for the last few festivals plus a lot else, no Idea what the brand was but cost £60 and is pretty flawless.

Due to not being arsed to put it up on my own this year, I'm in for a particular pop-up tent on a particular website which I will not show you until past 10 tonight

Don't worry too much about keeping the rain out. Even very cheap tents should be rain-proof providing you choose a good spot to pitch, put it up correctly, and don't allow things to lean against the side.

The most important aspect is keeping cool in the mornings. You'll wake with a pounding hangover after getting to bed 2 hours previously, because your tent will be like an oven. It doesn't need to be an unusually hot Glastonbury for this to happen - it just does.

If you want to avoid this, try and source a light-coloured tent which will reflect the heat. People talk about buying silver survival blankets to stick to their tents, but why not just cut out the middle man and buy a silver tent? Also, if you can get a tent with two entrances, then you can leave them both open and get a through-draft.

Being able to sleep longer in the mornings should be every festival-goer's number one criteria for a tent.

And one final thing: whatever tent you buy, don't use your guy-ropes. You're not up Everest. Just pegging through the little eyelets at the bottom of your inner/outer tents will be enough (unless you've unwisely chosen a tunnel-tent which won't stand up without them.) Guy ropes will just trip passers-by over and will be pulled out by the time you get back to your tent. I bet if you looked at all the hundreds of sprained wrists and other minor injuries that the medical services deal with during the course of each festival, the majority of them will be down to people tripping over unseen and unnecessary guy-ropes at night.

dont ever get that problem, as when the temperature gets too hot my generator kicks in and starts up my air conditioning unit,,, tents always nice and cool. Then I just microwave my dinner or put on the geordie foreman, before watching a bit of tv

its a pain in the arse carrying it all but worth it. electric blankets nice and handy on the cold nights, but the bees knees is the fridge.
