Hello Glasto heads, I hope you are all well.

I'd like some advice If you could be so kind. I'll be travelling down towards the festival on Monday (22/06/09), so I'll be wanting to camp on a campsite within the somerset area. I did this last year but would like some recommendations on campsites.

Cheers :)

Steveyt,

There is a Haven Holiday camp site at Burnham on Sea which is the next junction off the M4 after Weston Super Mare. Its probably about 25 mile from Glastonbury and only a couple of miles from the motorway. Its ok the usual Haven thing, bit commercial but has indoor and outdoor swimming pool and other things. Ideal for a couple of days.

Hope this helps.

we have stayed at the isle of avalon campsite for the last few years pre festival, its an easy walk into glastonbury town for pubs and shops (bout 10 mins). the facilities are basic. but toilets are clean and well maintained. i think it was about £8 pp and £4 p/tent but you'd have to check for certain. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2109 hope this helps. xxx

Come join the Pre-Meet Efests party at Old Oakes. See this thread: /index.php?showtopic=113007">Pre Festival Camping

Old Oakes is the nearest to the site, its nearest the pub we are all partying at on Tuesday night, the walk from the campsite to the oub takes us right past the Tor (Avalon campsite is the other side of town) It doesnt allow group bookings but there's lots of us booked in already. Come join the party. :D

  • 4 months later...

Just bumping this thread for people who plan a long time in advance.

Old Oaks Touring & Caravan Park are now only taking 4 night bookings for the high season, and the Tuesday before Glastonbury (22nd June) falls in their high season.

I have even emailed them to check, and they have replied confirming no single night bookings. So unless they change the policy nearer the time, the Tuesday night meet might have to be at another site.
