National Express Coaches + a Trolley

So we are getting the coach again from Victoria, just wanted to know if anyone did this last year but took a trolley with their rucksacks?

We were thinking heavy stuff in a rucksack on a trolley and one rucksuck for clothes between us (only 2 of us going)

it would make our journey up to camp a hell of a lot easier and allow for us to take some booze apart from spirts

Anyone do the same and what were the drivers like about the luggage?

Thanks!

we got national express from victoria to latitude last year.

for some reason they thought that instead of having the trolley lie down with all the stuff on it, that it would be a better idea for me to ungaffa tape everything from it and have it standing on its own with nothing on it.

i assume it will be the same for glastonbury. ridiculous!

Just have a good read of their luggage allowances.

I translate this as trolleys are a bit of a no-no 'Any other items considered unsuitable for carriage by reason of their weight, size, shape or character'

Trust in Ikea bags if ya have to! That's what I am doing when I transport my Glasto gear down by coach in mid June to Exeter from Brighton.

I'd guess it's something that the drivers don't deal with too often, falls under their discretion, and can be a bit random.

That said, the general reports of NX drivers doing festy coaches are positive. If it was me, I'd take the trolley, and if need be ask nicely. And if that doesn't work, offer an immediate tip. :P

I'm glad this has been asked, I was thinking the same the other week.

A friend of mine told me yesterday that she took a trolley on the coach last year and there was no problem. You're allowed 2 suitcase sized pieces of luggage, and seeing as the trolley is flat, it doesn't take up any more space.

The only thing that may be an issue is the weight. I know on airlines, by law baggage handlers can't lift a case heavier than 35kg (I know this because every year i went overseas for the summer i'd have to take stuff out of one of my cases to make it lighter) so I presume it's something similar for coach drivers too.

Best thing i'd suggest is lift it into the hold yourself!
