Shuttle Bus from Castle Cary

Hi glasto lovers!

It's going to be my first glasto and we're getting the train to Castle Cary so just have a few questions about the shuttle bus.

I think we should be getting to Castle Cary between 11-1 so do you normally have to queue to get onto the shuttle bus? How long do you think the wait will be if we are there for about midday? Also, how long does it take to get to the site and where abouts does it drop you off? We're hoping to stay in Pennards Hill so hopefully its not too much of a walk!

Cheers

Queues for the buses at Castle Cary seem to vary depending on when your train gets in. I think I waited about 30 minutes in 2007 and an hour or so last year.

I get on the train in Reading, not London (I live in Reading) and have had no problems getting on the last two years. Enough seats to go round on the trains and a speedy trip down. Perhaps they under-fill them in London on purpose so there's enough space for people who get on further down the line?

Anyway, I'd recommend it as a way to get there. Just don't take too much stuff with you!

  • 2 weeks later...

in order not to create a new thread, I'm using this one for my question which is similar...

if I arrive to Castle Cary on the 10.15 a.m. train on Friday, would it be possible to be on the festival site by 11:30? I'd expect that on Friday the queues will be much shorter but how long does the bus takes from the train station to the site?

thanks!

Never gone by train so purely based on what I have heard but I would say that you are cutting it fine. Particularly if you are wanting to see someone in particular shortly after that as even when you get to the site there will be getting in, then finding somewhere to camp, putting up tent etc...
