prices for food at glasto are similar to other festivals but you won't believe how much better the quality and variety are. the food is one of my favourite things about glastonbury.

do a search for Food and you'll get loads of threads talking about how good it is.

another thing is that the food prices are set by the festival. no-one will rip you off and a meal will cost the same no matter where you buy it from.

if you want a bottle of coke its the same price all over the site, same with burgers, chips, doughnuts.

for stalls that sell unique things like welsh oggies or burritos or jamaican curry goat the prices are set so that a meal will cost you about a fiver; maybe a bit more for a big serving or a bit less for a small one.

Yep, I agree, the food is not cheaper, but unlike some other festivals you usually feel as if you are actually getting your moneys worth (welsh oggies, the growler, PIE!, The Big Nosh etc).

Beer, not much different from London Suburb prices. (but they usually have Wherry at every bar, a quaffable ale for those of us who are not huge fans of lager/pilsner).

It seems to be the case that standard festival food (like burgers, chips, hot dogs, tea, coffee etc.) are all a standard price, but if you want to sell something different then you get more say in the price. So if you want to try different things then you geet a much better deal.

Glastonbury has so much variety for food - Kangaroo burgers, mexican, great veggie stuff, Jamaican, Italian, roast dinners, tea and toast. Basically anyything you could possibly wrong!

In terms of budget, I budget £20/day for food. This usually averages at £4 for breakfast, £5 for lunch, £6 for dinner and £5 for snacks!

Pezzy - just to clarify, have you actually asked for smaller portions and they have agreed to charge less? I have never thought of doing it before. I am a person who eats a little but often so if I could do that then it would be ideal! I love eating constantly! lol. :)

i dunno if they would or not but why not ask? shy bairns get no sweeties, as they say round my way :)

what i meant was a regular burrito will be a fiver, a large burrito will be about £6.50 and something smaller like a pizza slice (there's a nice pizza place on the way out of the jazzworld field heading up to the stone circle, don't buy from the place next to the pyramid) will cost you about £3.

does anyone know if you can buy big bottles of mixer anywhere on site? i'm sure i saw someone mention this a while ago but can't find it searching.

i'm thinking i won't be able to carry bottles of tonic to go with gin for example, so was wondering if i could buy any there?

obviously, i'd expect to pay a hefty premium, but would gladly do it to save my back!

thanks

Don't listen to these people who claim the food is glorious cuisine, shipped in from all corners of the land. It's not. Fair enough it has variation but damn it's expensive, I paid £7.50 for a chicken sandwich! The beer is not too good, I think it is £3.50 Carlsberg, £3.70 export, £3.70 Gaymers, however it is a festival so those prices are not all that bad. They also have real ale bar, cider bus, Brother's bar which all sell superior drinks and of course you can take your own drinks everywhere throughout the site.

This sounds like a really negative post, I don't intend it to be as Glastonbury is probably my favourite place in the world. The price of the food in relation to it's quality is probably the only negative thing I could say about the entire festival.

How can you complain about the food at Glasto and then mention how much you paid for a chicken sambo.

What the hell are you buying a chicken sambo for when you’re surrounded by such amazing food stalls such as t hose mentioned by cheif? The food is one of the best things at the festival and sold at a decent price.

I think you forfeited your right to complain about Glastonbury’s ‘glorious cuisine, shipped in from all corners of the land’ if you’re complaining about a chicken sandwich.

It is worth shopping around and asking for just what you need. last year a number of stalls did kids portions when asked for...............good idea for a cheap snack

One even did kids portions at half price that were nearly the same size as the adult ones.

glasto-price-list.jpg

The image above is from the bar I was working in last year although that was a very small bar so some bars will have a greater range.

All the WBC Bars charge the same price { although in the guest bar it is a bit more expensive }
