Alcohol

I'm afraid you just have a to risk it! :) We have never had alcohol stolen, howver a few cans of Red Bull went walkies last year (may have been someone in the group who wouldn't own up!!!) and also a chair went missing. I expect the chair went to the guy in the tent next to us who happened to suddenly have the exact same £20, two cup holder chair as my friend, a few hours after we had politely asked him not to piss behind our tent. And that reminds me, someone else I know had a crate of beer stolen.

But I don't think it happens often. I will still be brining alcohol with me this year.

Why not just lock ur tent? People on here before have said that theives see pad locks as a tent worth breaking into, but you can sort of hide it so it's locked and not obviously locked, if you catch my drift? I have had people clearly try to get into my tent before (porch being unzipped when I returned) and they have never gone past the padlock. I normally start with 4-5 crates in my tent, never lost a single can.

Fair enough. People have said that to me before. What I usually do it pad lock the two zips and tuck them back in on themselves. At the end of the day if someone is checking my tent they are planning on robbing me anyway. A padlock might put some off, if not they rob me anyway. Just my tactic which has worked before. Seems like a sensible thing to do to me, unless you have an expensive tent...

I agree with the padlock posse.

I don't worry about my tent because its about 20 years old and don't own anything anyone else wants.

If some opportunistic type tries to get in your tent and there's a padlock stopping him/her, all but the most determined villain will stop there. It's easy to remain unnoticed if you just stroll into a tent, but someone with a knife hacking away at a tent will probably attract more attention than any burglar bill wants to receive. Has anyone ever seen a slashed tent? Does it actually happen much?

I think padlocks are the way to go if you're a worrier, though tucking them in (see above) seems a worthwhile precaution.

Peace

Makes less sense than not having a padlock though. If a scally decided to try and get in that tent then he'd realise that:

a) there's no one home

and

ii) there's likely to be something valuable in it

In my opinion it would make the tent more likely to get slashed and would not prevent any theft.

If your worried about anything getting nicked at any festival you have to ask yourself is it worth taking and can I afford to loose it. This way you only take stuff with you wouldn't want stolen, but at least its stuff that your can be f**ked without. During the day if you have anything your worried about just take it with you.

Having said this at Glastonbury the amount of theieving is tiny compared to some other festivals. But if you've got nothing to steal nothing can be stolen.
